I had fun at "glow" but as for "art" it was...meh. I continue to be amused at "artists" discovering basic stage lighting techniques for the first time. But, yeah, but, it's, like, "ART." Like. And now, having visited Doves Today to copy & paste the URL, & discovered "g's" item, we refer you there for fuller coverage of "glow," w/ photographs.

Hey, thanks for the referral.
True story - I was a fresh college graduate with a BA in Theatre when I went to NYC in the 1970's. I did some off-off-broadway theatre and met some people and ended up getting a free-lace gig in a gallery in SoHo, working for these artists who had rented some stage lighting gear from a friend of mine who lit a couple rock bands. I spent ten days climbing on ladders hanging 6" fresnels from sprinkler pipes and pointing them on a dangling chunk of sheet metal. The deal was, one light shined on the sheet metal 45 degrees up and to the left, gelled in red, and the other shined on the sheet metal 45 degrees up and to the right, gelled in green. And we oohed and aahed at the fact that the shadows were like crazy colors! We were playing Lighting 101 games! For way more money than they were paying in off-off-Broadway! But the artists were like the stupidest people I'd ever worked for. The guy I worked for finally couldn't stand it anymore and left me as the boss. Then I hired someone else, and when I couldn't stand it, he became the boss.
Anyway...glow reminded me a little of that, but now I'm older I'm less intolerant.
I have to add another comment, cause I feel like I was too cynical.
The event was fun, and people had a good time, and there's a value to that.
it's just - art? OK. Skin deep. But what the hell is wrong with skin deep art? Fun, nice, pretty. funky, edgy, cool. Nice to make art accessible to a whole bunch of people. The more people like and think about art, the better as far as I'm concerned.
I dug the lit-up plastic bags.

We here only grow even more cynical & intolerant as we age, as our preconceptions are reconfirmed each & every day.
Sad, isn't it?
