This Is Your Country

I sure as hell don't want anything to do w/ it!

Digby gets behind the Financial Times paywall & looks at books about the impending American crack-up.
At the end of their book, Burns and Martin quote Malcolm Turnbull, Australia’s former prime minister, on America’s tendency to self-soothe with familiar homilies. They are no longer helpful. “You know that great line that you hear all the time: ‘This is not us. This is not America’?” Turnbull asks. “You know what? It is actually.”
I say it's America, & I say the hell w/ it.

Mental Health Is A Joke

Hey, how'd Mental Health Awareness Month work out? Only a few score dead is how. Let us count the days.

14 May (Buffalo): "Take a mindful walk. Notice sights, sounds, smells and feelings."

24 May (Uvalde): "Ask your child what their proudest accomplishment is."

Guess those green ribbons really helped.
What now? "Ask your child their favorite memories of their murdered friends?"

Your fucking pig asshole money-grubbing system drove this reporter right the fuck out of his mind; any attempts to improve things other than destroying this entire world of shit & pain Nazi assholes have erected on this planet & starting over w/ an equitable society in which decent people can live is like putting a band-aid on a deep cut to the jugular vein. Look at all this caring concerned horseshit: The problem is a fucking society that thinks BULLSHIT fools anybody but the bullshitters.

Local Election Action

Some guy who has an acc't. on some social media.
L.A.: On the subject of mayors, you came out in opposition to Americana developer Rick Caruso’s mayoral campaign the day he formally announced he was running. When did you decide you needed to comment?

A.B.M.: I feel for like a year or two he’d been talking about it, and it was on my radar that he might run, as he had threatened to in the past. I’d been kind of stressed about it because I don’t want people to think I support him or that I’ve been platforming him because I created this account about his mall. So when he announced, I was like, “OK, I have to say I don’t support him.” And I hope people knew that before, that just because he made a mall I like walking around does not mean I think he should be running the city of Los Angeles. I’ve been taking it day by day at the moment. It’s a very hard subject because I want to make fun of him, but I don’t want to be flippant about it either. It’s a serious thing, and he’s essentially trying to buy the election, which I feel powerless to even try to stop.

I find myself in a very weird position. When I created the account, I never thought I’d have to worry about the Los Angeles mayoral election. Now I feel a little responsibility to say something when he does stupid things. I’m still figuring it out.

Gwyneth Paltrow, when not hooring for an exploitative food delivery service on the telly, has endorsed Caruso on the telly. Need we say more? No, because KNOCK LA has a large amount of dirt, & the L.A.Times (via Spectrum) notes Rick's conflicts of interest.

But how about more on Mitch O'Farrell, whose landlord-owned ass figures in this mess.

As politicians look to build public support for homeless encampment sweeps, they’re using tactics popularized in LA—the site of one of the nation’s most intense battles over the unhoused.

Never Forget

Memorial Day (Observed) On Correct Day For Once*

Anyone who dies for his or her country is a chump-ass sucker. The idea is to make the other poor bastard die for his/her shithole country.
Also remember that Memorial Day is for those who fucking died, not "everyone who served". Veterans Day is for the fobbits & desk jockeys, you ignorant cretins! And for the filthy pimps & whores among us who will grub for money no matter the occasion, advice that shouldn't have to be given to a 10-yr. old:
Be sure to use the hashtag!

*Your shithole country went to hell when Decoration Day became Memorial Day & merely the excuse for a three-day wknd.

Sunday Suckfest: Election Time Approaches!

Make America Righteous Again!

Chuck here is a man of few words, but they tell us all we need to know.

Here is former jarhead #2, followed by the king of the loons.
Literally everything but Satanic baby-eating cabals. "Free Deep State patsy Sirhan Sirhan."

Almost as easy to run for U.S. Senate in California as for a murderous 18-yr. old in Texas to buy a couple M-16 style rifles. All you need is the $3,480.00 filing fee, 4,750 valid signatures, or a combination of the two. Value of Each Signature: $0.732631579.

America Continues Eating
Murdering Its Youth & Women

Anna Skog, The Associated Press

AUSTIN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP/WOOD) — A Mecosta County sheriff says a mother and her three young children were shot to death in their home and the man hospitalized with a gunshot wound to the head is the suspected gunman.

Sheriff Brian Miller said Saturday that the man suspected in the shooting Friday in Austin Township near Big Rapids is the woman’s husband. He was originally taken to a Big Rapids hospital, transferred by helicopter to a Grand Rapids hospital and is now being treated in Ann Arbor for his injuries.

Miller says the children who were killed were all under 10.

Isn't that awful? What a shame there wasn't a strong, manly male prescence in the house.

Bought peanut butter yesterday, decided to have a sandwich today. Been a while since I've had one, judging from the "use by" date on the jelly that was in the fridge.
No adverse effects. Yet.

Friday Finger (W/ Music)

Texas speaks.
She smeared blood on herself and played dead: 11-year-old reveals chilling details of the massacre  —  (CNN)An 11-year-old survivor of the Robb Elementary School massacre in Uvalde, Texas, feared the gunman would come back for her so she smeared herself in her friend's blood and played dead.
And in trivial first world problems, this reporter extends a middle finger to Apple TV+, which has exclusive rights to tonight's Blue Jays at Angels game, & isn't sharing. Fuck you "Tim Apple", & fuck Arte Moreno, Major League Baseball & you Canadian hosers too. Fucking parasites, all of you.

Stop The Steal!

Stop them from stealing my wages! How's this for "economic anxiety"? This sufferer has US$46.67 to last the next five days, thanks to inflation. I'm very anxious for the tables to turn. Fyah burn you, through & through!!
Of course, all your filthy American money is blood-stained.
I'll admit it was a bad decision on my part: If I hadn't run up my credit cards for my model railroad I'd be able to buy a nice handgun & plenty of rounds to use for a carjacking; a car running over sheep on the sidewalks is much more efficient than gunfire. Wise up to the automobile, would-be mass murderers!!

Friday Freak Out: Bend Over, Here Come The Bugs Again!

You all suck, & your immune systems suck too, because they haven't been tweaked in the last two yrs.
These viruses are not different than they were before, but we are. For one thing, because of Covid restrictions, we have far less recently acquired immunity; as a group, more of us are vulnerable right now. And that increase in susceptibility, experts suggest, means we may experience some … wonkiness as we work toward a new post-pandemic equilibrium with the bugs that infect us.
Damnit, I'd hoped it was more death sentence than wonkiness for your murderous species.
Let's have bugs that are less chronic & more acute, Nature.

Russian Propaganda Up-Date

From The Pages Of The Federalist

Nagonna read the Federalist, but this refutes the MOAR GUBS IN SKOOLS! approach. Also refutes the more cops in schools approach, which actually leads to more crime.

Annals Of Sensitive Snowflakery

Gawd forbid this tenured professor should learn anything about anyone else, or just how not to be an asshole.
Katie Tan / The Chronicle:
The most obvious question is how the James B. Duke distinguished professor of molecular genetics and microbiology, Bryan Cullen, would react to a student who didn't want to attend a class? Oh, right, hypocrite w/ double standards.

Anyway, ignore the fake news spew, the more objective take is from The Chronicle, which describes itself as "the independent news organization of Duke University", & has examples that put the distinguished Prof. Cullen squarely in "He seems nice" territory.

And why might the medical profession need “left-wing Maoist political propaganda workshops”, as Prof. Snowflake redundantly phrased it? Why, critical race theory, obviously.
There really is a song for just about everything.

The N.R.A. Speaks

Bullet Points:
  • The National Rifle Association said its “deepest sympathies” are with the families and victims of the Uvalde, Texas, elementary school massacre.
  • The NRA’s comment came a day after an 18-year-old gunman armed with an AR-15 style rifle killed 19 children and two teachers at Robb Elementary School.
  • The incident is the latest in a series of shootings at schools and other public spaces that gun-control advocates blame on loose U.S. firearm laws.
  • Ex-President Donald Trump is scheduled to attend the NRA’s annual convention in Houston this week, as are Gov. Greg Abbott and Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas, and other prominent Republicans.

    First Bush, Then Trump!

Sounds like a good idea, but "All the Markers of an Overhyped FBI-Manufactured Narrative" is putting it mildly.
    Thomas Brewster / Forbes:
EXCLUSIVE: ISIS Plotting To Assassinate George W. Bush In Dallas  —  Two confidential informants and surveillance of the alleged plotter's WhatsApp account reveal plans to smuggle assassins into the U.S. to murder the former president, according to a search warrant application discovered by Forbes.
USA Today:   Ohio man allegedly linked to assassination plot against former President George W. Bush
Look at all the right-wing pansies peeing their pants. "When will squishy RINOs wake up"? Has there ever been a larger collection of sissy snowflakes?

"Did surveillance", by the way, means drove by the Bush compound & shot it. W/ his cell 'phone. Once.

And from Washington's Free Bacon: "Greatest living President". My. Fucking. Ass.

And what the fucking hell is w/ Twitter? Lookit this bullshit. Did I say "poopy-doody"? Oh my.

Money-Grubbing In The Mid-East W/ Globalist Jared Kushner

“There was no subject he considered beyond his expertise. Criminal justice reform. Middle East peace. The southern and northern borders. Veterans and opioids. Big Tech and small business. If Martian attacks had come across the radar, he would have happily added them to his ever-bulging portfolio.”

    — Kellyanne Conway, quoted by the Washington Post, about Jared Kushner in her new book.

    Mars Attacks! card #5.
But mostly, he knows how to leech, like the parasite he is.
Kushner's and Mnuchin's Quick Pivots to Business With the Gulf  —  Weeks before the Trump administration ended, Jared Kushner and Steven Mnuchin met with future investors on official trips to the Middle East.  —   Shortly before the 2020 election, Trump administration officials unveiled a U.S. government-sponsored program called the Abraham Fund that they said would raise $3 billion for projects around the Middle East.
But an examination of the two men’s travels toward the end of the Trump presidency raises other questions about whether they sought to exploit official relationships with foreign leaders for private business interests.
In the weeks after the election, Mr. Kushner made three trips to the Middle East, the last for a Jan. 5 summit in Saudi Arabia with leaders of the Gulf monarchies. Mr. Mnuchin that day began a tour through the region that was planned to include private meetings with the heads of the sovereign wealth funds of Saudi Arabia, the Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait — all future investors. (He cut it short after the Capitol riot, dropping the Kuwait stop and, in Saudi Arabia, meeting only with the finance minister.)

    Ridin' The Mule

    Allegedly the first recording:
As Mr. D'Souza seems determined to beclown himself on a daily basis, we're glad there are many more versions of this American classic available.
    Khaya Himmelman / The Dispatch:
Fact Checking Dinesh D'Souza's ‘2,000 Mules’  —  The film's ballot harvesting theory is full of holes.  —  On May 7, 2,000 Mules, a documentary film from right-wing provocateur Dinesh D'Souza, debuted in more than 270 theaters across the country.  The movie, which grossed more than $1 million on the streaming service Rumble in under 12 hours, purports to have used cell phone geolocation data and video surveillance of mail-in ballot drop boxes to argue that President Joe Biden lost the 2020 election.

D'Souza has a history of promoting false and misleading claims and has also received a presidential pardon from Donald Trump for a felony conviction for making illegal campaign contributions.

The basic premise of the 90-minute film is that 2,000 “mules” or “paid professional operatives” delivered “fraudulent and illegal votes” to mail-in drop boxes in Michigan, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Arizona, and Georgia. The film supposedly uncovers an “elaborate network” of “mules” in key states that would have changed the outcome of the 2020 election. The evidence in question comes from conservative Texas-based organization True the Vote, founded by Catherine Engelbrecht. Throughout the movie, D'Souza interviews Engelbrecht as well as Gregg Phillips, a True the Vote board member, who is described as “having a deep background in election intelligence,” and explains the cell phone geolocation data on which True the Vote bases its claims.

The movie, however, is riddled with errors and previously debunked claims of voter fraud, and it’s based on a faulty premise.
No, really? GPS huh? Izzat why Bill Gates wants to stick 5G nano-chips in you w/ his fake vaccine? To see where you voted?

    Non-Endorsement: Mitch O'Farrell

Don't vote for whore Mitch O'Farrell, owned by the parasitic landlords "in the amount of US$2,637,500".
Progressives target Democratic incumbents on LA City Council
    • Members of the Democratic Socialists of America's LA chapter helped Council member Nithya Raman become the first challenger to unseat an incumbent in 17 years
    • Two years later, volunteer Mike Rose has been redistricted into Council District 13 and is helping to oust a Democrat incumbent once again
    • The homelessness crisis became a flashpoint last year when Councilman Mitch O’Farrell lead an operation to fence off Echo Park Lake to remove an encampment
    • Spectrum News requested an interview with O’Farrell’s campaign but never heard back
Oddly enough, this reporter was redistricted out of District 13, so he'll be unable to help vote moneybags O'Farrell the hell out.
When you're gentrified onto the streets, remember where your rent money went: O'Farrell's pocket.

Another Reason To Vote! Him! Out!

Th' fucking hell's this load of codswallop have to do w/ sheriffin'? Or anything, really? If he wants to be a politician, fine. But his record at sheriffing probably precludes success at anything but the office in which he's currently incumbent.

Oh, lookit this. A new ad!

LA Archdiocese Asks Villanueva Campaign To Nix Ad That Features The Sheriff Praying In A Local Church

The L.A. Archdiocese says a parish priest at St. Alphonsus Church in East L.A. did not have the authority to allow Sheriff Alex Villanueva to film a reëlection campaign ad at their location.
For the musical selection, cursory research indicates neither a St. Alphonzo (nor Alphonso) so the inspiration for the song may well be the St. Alphonsus Church the Sheriff desecrated.
Musical bonus, from the tag in the Sheriff's ad.
    Text bonus:
Plus, Villanueva’s re-election bid has been filled with “culture war” nonsense, including speaking out against “woke-ism.” Oliver also took aim at Villanueva’s 30-second campaign ad, which he called “maybe one of the dumbest things that I have ever seen.”

The ad includes a beautiful woman rollerblading past tents of unhoused people, a mother and child gleefully playing in a sandbox with unhoused people in it, and a man giving a woman a foot massage—seemingly having the time of their lives—as people are stealing stuff from their home, all as “Ave Maria” plays and Villanueva talks vaguely about “standing up to the corruption” in a voiceover.

“Now, obviously, that is all idiotic—from the 1990s rollerblader to the song choice for your California dream ad being ‘Ave Maria’ and not, I don’t know, ‘California Dreamin’,’ to the fact that everyone there is having an absolute ball, including the people experiencing a break-in. I’ve honestly never seen anyone this happy getting robbed, and I’ve seen Glenn Close at the Oscars eight times,” Oliver said.

He proceeded to call it “the most unwatchable depiction of Southern California since La La Land.”

Cracker Bill Cassidy (Cretin-Louisiana) Admits CRT Is Absolutely True

Also Sexism. Couldn't Get Any Religious Bullshit In There Too, You Hateful Prick?

    Bess Levin / Vanity Fair:
Louisiana Senator Bill Cassidy: Our Maternal Death Rates Are Only Bad If You Count Black Women  —  “If you correct our population for race, we're not as much of an outlier as it'd otherwise appear.”
    Per Bess Levin:
And in Louisiana, which has a similar trigger law that will go into effect upon Roe being reversed, maternal mortality rates are among the worst in the nation. But according to GOP senator Bill Cassidy, the rate at which women die during pregnancy or shortly after is not as bad as it seems—if you subtract the deaths of Black women, which apparently don’t count.

In an interview with Politico, the following words came out of Cassidy’s mouth: “About a third of our population is African American; African Americans have a higher incidence of maternal mortality. So, if you correct our population for race, we’re not as much of an outlier as it’d otherwise appear. Now, I say that not to minimize the issue but to focus the issue as to where it would be. For whatever reason, people of color have a higher incidence of maternal mortality.”

There’s a lot to unpack here. Let’s start with the idea that Cassidy—who wants to defund Planned Parenthood is all, Yes, on its face, our maternal mortality rates are abysmal, but if you only count white women, they’re not that bad! Then there’s the phrase “for whatever reason.” In fact, there is one very big reason in particular— perhaps you can take a guess? “It’s no mystery why maternal mortality rates are so high among Black women,” Michelle Williams, the dean of Harvard’s School of Public Health said in response. “They are high because of the devastating impacts of structural racism and individual bias.” As Politico notes, Black mothers are three times more likely to die from a pregnancy-related cause than white mothers in the U.S., which has the worst mortality rate among developed nations and where “17 mothers die for every 100,000 pregnancies in the country.” In Louisiana, Black mothers are four times as likely to die than white mothers.

“For whatever reason”. Official Republican platform: Good luck to the help, hope they can find a doctor somewhere.

    More Mule "Misstatements"

Already-convicted campaign finance criminal Dinesh D'Souza is literally beyond belief. What lie will he tell today or tomorrow?
Conservative activist and filmmaker Dinesh D’Souza told a conservative podcast that “2000 Mules,” his film making flawed and faulty claims about election fraud in 2020, directly led the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office to open up an investigation — but the sheriff says that’s simply not true.

“The Yuma County Sheriff’s Office has been working jointly with the Yuma County Recorder’s Office and the Arizona Attorney General’s Office extensively regarding allegations of voter misconduct for over a year,” Yuma County Sheriff Leon Wilmot said in an emailed statement to the Arizona Mirror.

“These ongoing investigations are not related to or inspired by any movie or celebrity figure, but rather facts and evidence regarding violation of Arizona statute,” Wilmot added. “I am not familiar with, nor have I ever communicated with, any individuals who may now be claiming I am investigating on their behalf or because of any supposed inspiration from a documentary film.”

    A previous lie.
