Getting In Cars W/ Strangers

Another for the "What in the name of hell is wrong w/ you fucking people?" file:

Couple Allege Uber Driver Stabbed Them After One Vomited in Car

According to the complaint, the couple were being driven home last Sept. 25 after a night out with friends when Hakobyan became nauseous during the trip and vomited in the vehicle’s back seat.

The plaintiffs apologized and offered to pay the Uber driver to clean the vehicle, but the driver instead “became extremely aggressive” and refused to take the pair home, the suit states.

“Plaintiffs protested and begged the driver take them to their destination and ensured that the driver would be adequately compensated for her troubles,” according to the suit.

Rather than de-escalate the situation, the driver took out a knife and stabbed her passengers multiple times and both needed medical care, the suit states.

Shouldn't the driver be doing hard time?

None So Blind ...

Note the National (Socialist) Review blaming victims.
Dan Froomkin / Press Watch:
Our so-called liberal media covers up the right's racism and growing homophobia  —  Political reporters at our leading news organizations routinely put a thumb on the scale in favor of the far right - both by failing to call out its racist and increasingly homophobic nature, and by adopting right-wing frames in reporting current events.

British tourist awarded $375,000 after suffering hundreds of bed bug bites at infested Hollywood Hills home

The tourist, Meshak Moore, at first believed the marks on his body were from mosquito bites, but four weeks after waking up with itchy welts on his skin he discovered his mattress was infested with hundreds of bugs and nests that he recorded in a video he submitted as evidence.

“I’ve been sleeping in this for a month, getting bitten,” he is heard saying in the video when he discovered the bugs, according to court records filed Friday. “Look. Look.”

The arbitration decision, signed June 29 by Robert Bare, a judge with the American Arbitration Assn., came after six years of litigation between Moore and Henry Huang and Robert Norris of Bamboo Retreats LLC, the owners of the house in the 2000 block of Vasanta Way. Moore was in Los Angeles for an extended vacation, renting part of the house occupied by Huang and Norris.

Six fucking yrs. to punish a pair of corporate parasites who were extending professional courtesy to other parasites? Arbitration my ass!

Warning of a forthcoming collapse of the Atlantic meridional overturning circulation  —  Abstract  —  The Atlantic meridional overturning circulation (AMOC) is a major tipping element in the climate system and a future collapse would have severe impacts on the climate in the North Atlantic region. In recent years weakening in circulation has been reported, but assessments by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), based on the Climate Model Intercomparison Project (CMIP) model simulations suggest that a full collapse is unlikely within the 21st century.

For once, something good to say of the dead.
Daniel Arkin / NBC News:
Tony Bennett, enraged by racism, championed civil rights alongside MLK  —  In an era when most white entertainers stayed on the sidelines, the singer marched for racial equality and resisted apartheid.  —  In the 1950s, Tony Bennett watched with dismay as Black musicians like Nat King Cole and Duke Ellington were denied admission to concert hall dining rooms and hotels. The injustice he witnessed infuriated the young singer.
 Dave Kindy / Washington Post:
Tony Bennett saw racism and horror in World War II.  It changed him.  —  What were the chances?  Thousands of miles from home, in a foreign land devastated by war, old friends bumped into each other on the street.  —  It was Thanksgiving Day, 1945, when two U.S. Army soldiers met unexpectedly in Mannheim, Germany.

Pence Pontificates: "I'm Pro-Life"
(Even If It Kills The Mother)

Nick Robertson / The Hill:
Pence says abortion should be banned for nonviable pregnancies  —  Former Vice President Mike Pence said abortions in the case of nonviable pregnancies should be banned, taking a hard stance on abortion policy, which has served as an emphasis of his campaign.  —  “I'm pro-life. I don’t apologize for it,” Pence said in a recent interview. “I just have heard so many stories over the years of courageous women and families who were told that their unborn child would not go to term or would not survive. And then they had a healthy pregnancy and a healthy delivery.”
