The father of one of the six college students killed in California on Friday has repeated his call for stricter gun laws and condemned the US government and powerful gun lobby for failing to enact change.

"We're all proud to be Americans,”† Richard Martinez said. “But what kind of message does it send to the world when we have such a rudderless bunch of idiots in government?"

On Monday, he told HLN his son died at an Isla Vista delicatessen because of Congress’s failure to pass substantial gun legislation in the wake of mass shootings including the December 2012 massacre at Sandy Hook elementary in Connecticut, in which 20 children and six adults were killed. “Have we learned nothing?” Martinez asked. “These things are going to continue until somebody does something, so where the hell is the leadership?

“My kid died because nobody responded to what occurred at Sandy Hook. Those parents lost little kids. It’s bad enough that I lost my 20-year-old, but I had 20 years with my son. That’s all I’ll ever have but those people lost their children at six and seven years old.

“How do you think they feel? Who’s talking to them now? Who’s doing anything for them now?”

In response, a website popular with Pick-Up Artists is arguing that “six lives would have been saved” if there were a societal mechanism for men to learn “game” and “masculinity” and that “more people will die unless you give men sexual options.”

*Really, Facebook "Friend" who then deleted these two messages left in response to my posting this & this on Facebook? Both of which are more concerned w/ the AP's crummy &/or prevaricating reportage, than screaming about the body count. (Gmail, baby. Nothing disappers!)

I'm not a medical professional, but I'm sure the bodies have been cold since Saturday night. As have thousands of other gun-dead bodies.

When is society's approved waiting period over? Tomorrow, when America's back at work & already forgetting? Next wk.? June? The end of next quarter? The second anniversary of Sandy Hook? 2016? (Nope, no discussion in an election yr., because democracy!) A decade? WHEN?

And I'd love to know how this will be "settled." By calming down & waiting for the "rudderless" politicians to get around to it?

60+ yrs. of this world of murderers and thieves, of hatred and jealousy & of death & monstrosities like "Joe The NOT-Plumber" & I'm supposed to "calm down?" A little late now. Maybe if fewer people did "calm down ..."

†Why, exactly? ("We're No.1 in Gun Murders!!! Rah-rah-sis-boom-bah!!!" Is that it?) I'm horrified by this country, as anyone who wasn't socialized into believing the bullshit would be.
