Monday Memorial Music:
Sonny Rollins

Sonny Rollins would've turned 96 today, but he left this mortal coil in May. Active from from 1947 until 2014, he recorded more than 60 albums as a leader. Other than these two selections, this reporter will leave it to you to do your own research.
And Max Roach! Tommy Flanagan's no slouch either.

Only known recording of Rollins & John Coltrane, who hits 100 the 26th.

Every Accusation Is A Confession

In the Gospels, Pharisees are frequently portrayed as opponents of Jesus, often criticized as hypocrites who focused on outward ritual rather than internal righteousness ...

Daylight Come & Me Wanna Kill You!!

You going to call the police? Third time's the charm, squealing rat. This time they'll have to kill me; I'm not going back to any damn nuthouse because some piece of subhuman chickenshit called the fucking police. Do you little bitches want me dead? Did I deserve a wk. in psychiatric jail because my landlord is a cheap slumlord prick? Think about that. Think whose motherfucking side you have placed yourself on by defending a slumlord. You certainly deserve to die painfully.

And are the police reading this too? Fuck you, coppers. You are shit, & you have no right to judge me!

See what you started when you called the fucking police you chickenshit asshole? I can't forget the goddam injustice done to me, you rat bastard. Can't fucking sleep, constantly agitated & anxious, no idea if I'm "safe" (Not in this world of shit. If the slumlord doesn't kill you, your "friends" & the police will.) or if the goddamn pigs are about to break down my door because I've been SWATTED by some brain-dead prick who thinks he's helping.

You useless prick, you apparently read this regularly & know where I live, have you lost my 'phone number & e-mail so you couldn't contact me if you were so fucking worried? FUCK YOU!!! So much for caring, concern & compassion, just send the pigs to brutalize me. What an asshole! Is it any damn wonder I hate everybody? Is my contempt for scum a reason to commit me?

You are all the definition of filthy hypocrisy & absolutely deserve to die. Every fucking one of you is dead-dead-dead, y'hear? Just not soon enough for my taste, & I'm not allowed to say what I'd like to do to all of you!

"Look at that face!
Would anyone vote for that?"

The Republic of California pronounces "good riddance to bad rubbish".

Carly Fiorina on Virginia Senate run:
'I'm certainly looking at that opportunity'

The Commonwealth of Virginia is stuck w/ that face now. And the usual line of bullshit.
Fiorina's name has been floated, according to a report in Politico, as one of the leading contenders to challenge incumbent Democratic Sen. Tim Kaine in the state. Her comments this week are the latest indication she's seriously considering a run.

She added it would be "very, very tough race" against Kaine.

Earlier in the interview, Fredericks said he was convinced Fiorina would run in 2018, noting her presence at many local events around the state.

"Who knows what the future will bring," she responded, "but I look forward to continuing to talk to the people of the Commonwealth of Virginia about things that we agree on, things that we may not yet know we agree on -- most people are pragmatic, most people have a lot of common sense."
Blah blah blah. Meaning she'll put a finger to the wind (Hey, I got a finger for you Sneed!) once the primaries are closer to determine what the drooling 'tard community (the only ones who could possibly contemplate voting for her) wants to be told this time around. Amusing that C.N.N. chose not to mention two-time loser Fiorina's 2010 California Senate flame, crash & burn, or her big-time loser business weasel record.

Bye-Bye Boxer

Is it still called the Great Orange Satan? Whatever. Found there (via) an interesting line about "our" next Sen.:
There's [sic] no obvious GOP contenders. Republican operatives are hoping to attract someone who can self-fund a campaign, though there aren't any names circulating yet.
Another lamb (Demon sheep?) to the slaughter for the Grand Old Party. "Is there a rich guy in the house?"

I wonder if I could get as many votes as Mickey Kaus.
Kaus finished a distant third in the June 8, 2010 Democratic primary election, with 5.3% of the total vote (or 94,298 votes) [...] incumbent Barbara Boxer secured 80.5%, ensuring that she would continue on to the general election.
Nah, guess not.

News Round-Up

Aw hell, nothing's worth the effort, not even events w/ which I could tangentially involve myself*, Richard "Kinky" "Big Dick" Friedman having garnered enough votes to force a run-off for Ag Commish in the Tejas Democratic primary yesterday being one such event. Good for him, even if chances aren't.
[A] Republican is heavily favored to win the general election.

Friedman has run for office in the Lone Star State several times before, including for the same position in 2010. Then he also made the cut for a runoff before losing the ultimate battle for the nomination.
Or,

[a pause as coffee is made]

... something else but I went & made a cuppa joe, forgot whatever idiocy it was & now it seems twice as trivial.
*That possibility obliging me to note stuff, that sense of obligation leading to resentment of imposition, which leads to this pathetic self-analysis & good-bye readers. As if we care about eyeballs, this being a labor of (mostly self-) love & all.

Donalde Dumbass

Removing images from the hard drive & came across this:
So how'd that campaign end, D.D.?

And how's this yr.'s campaign shaping up? Like this:
Alas, crypto-fascist (Not really so "crypto," is he?) Douglas doesn't want the truth. My feelings are so hurt.
When Ted Nugent was calling someone a "subhuman mongrel" recently he may have meant Professor Douglas. What a maroon.

I've no idea & barely care (probably applies to the Wikipedia entry as well) but if this is how the Reactionary Party slate is shaking out ...
Declared
Withdrawn
Potential
Declined
This party is messed up. The field may be so full of fuckheads because it's a nonpartisan blanket primary again this yr. Wouldn't surprise me (but I'm mighty jaded & hard to surprise) if Democratic horses were first & second once the dust clears.

Here is declared Loony Party candidate Tim Donnelly & a friend or two.Hmmmm. A Venezuelan & a Tim Donnelly. Sensing Popery? I AM! (And a desperate appeal to Hispanic voters. M.C. Alonso? What, Vikki Carr was busy?)

Classical Gasbag 2014

The mind boggles & the jaw drops. Mickey Kaus, 2010 candidate for the Calif. Democratic Senatorial nomination (Not only did he lose, but he had to quit his sweet gig at Slate for his quixotic tilt at the windmill that is Barbara Boxer, &, insult added to injury, he didn't stop falling until he hit The Daily Caller.) has been thinking again. Are you ready for the chance of probably unintended humor? The latest brain-storm (Get this!) is running Fresno's Finest, V.D. Hanson, against current Gov. Jerry "Budget Balancer" Brown. We've saved you the imposition of clicking & the immorality of increasing Kaus's (or Tucker Carlson's) page views by copying the whole mess:
Here’s an idea for beleaguered California Republicans looking for someone to run against Gov. Jerry Brown in 2014: Why not Victor Davis Hanson? He’s an articulate advocate of the conservative point of view on the central political issues of the state – a farmer, scholar, charismatic speaker who combines broad knowledge with ground-level machismo. He’d have an appeal in the disaffected, depressed central valley, where he lives, and the yuppie coast. While he’s skeptical of the current rush to amnesty, he talks about illegal immigrants living in his area with compassion. He’s not a career pol like the other mentionees. He’s a real human being. He’s not a multimillionaire ex-CEO either (we’ve had enough of them). The media would have an excuse to cover him–the fish out of water angle–as long as he kept them amused. The debates with Jerry Brown would be highly informative. It’s possible Brown would freak out in a fit of intellectual insecurity.**

What have the state’s Republicans, now a pitied, powerless minority, got to lose?
__________
**–Conflict note: Brown has been a better governor than feared–the Democratic left thinks he’s not spending enough, for example. He recently also had the good judgment to appoint a close relative of mine to the bench.
The Calif. GOP doesn't have much to lose, & we'd love to hear Hanson "talk w/ compassion" (Neither citation nor link? A claim that counter-intuitive needs more than assertion.) about wetbacks"illegal immigrants living in his area."

We'll leave "intellectual insecurity" alone; too silly to bother. But what makes Mick believe the GOP wants even a VDH-style intellect representing them? Did he not get the memos on science-thinkin' & collidge perfessers?

Beyond the trivial, we wonder if Kaus's bizarre perception of V.D. Hanson is attributable to the epistemic closure that suggests "Get off my farm, illegals!" is dripping w/ compassion or is it as simple as having been in the same room w/ Mr. (Prof.?) Hanson a few times, & Hanson didn't laugh out loud at him?

Onward Confederate Christian Soldiers

Have you seen this? No, really.
Battle Flag of The Holy Bible.
Have you? Can it be made any clearer that Confederate Jesus is a racist? As are Confederates, the Arkansas GOP & these astounding Arkansas legislators:
After Arkansas Republicans disavowed a book by state representative Jon Hubbard (R-AR) claiming slavery was “a blessing in disguise” for African Americans, Hubbard’s colleague, state Rep. Loy Mauch (R-AR) has been outed by the Arkansas Times for his pro-slavery, pro-Confederacy letters to the editor over the past decade. Mauch’s run for reelection this year is backed by the Arkansas Republican Party.

In letters to the Democrat-Gazette, Mauch vehemently defended slavery and repeatedly suggested Jesus condoned it:
If slavery were so God-awful, why didn’t Jesus or Paul condemn it, why was it in the Constitution and why wasn’t there a war before 1861?The South has always stood by the Constitution and limited government. When one attacks the Confederate Battle Flag, he is certainly denouncing these principles of government as well as Christianity.
His other letters call Abraham Lincoln a Marxist and celebrate the Confederate flag as “a symbol of Christian liberty vs. the new world order.” He also organized a conference in 2004 praising John Wilkes Booth and calling for the removal of an Abraham Lincoln statue. Mauch has been supported mainly by contributions from the Republican Party and other Arkansas candidates. Now, the state GOP is pulling all funds from Mauch, Hubbard and another state legislative candidate, Charlie Fuqua, who wants to expel all Muslims from the country and thinks rebellious children should receive the death penalty.

Though the party committee has cut them off, the three candidates are still receiving support from other Arkansas politicians, including U.S. Reps Steve Womack (R) and Tim Griffin (R). Mauch has also been endorsed by the National Rifle Association and the Arkansas Right to Life PAC.
Beyond denial; right there in, if you'll pardon us, ebony & ivory. (Well, gray & black because it's all about the nuance here.) And so far beyond any possible parody or spoof it has to be true. The nut-picking of Loy Mauch's letters to the editor is not to be missed, don't be satisfied w/ TP's recap. And Rep. Rep. Mauch must've said/done something else inane; this image trotted out by the Arkansas Times & then TP has been in the Just Another Blog &c.™ editorial hard-drive since November 2010. When not-a-theocrat Mauch was elected.

Voter Fraud Follow-Up

As good an excuse as any: "We just have so many houses we're not really sure where we are at any given moment."

Not just Romney committing fraud either. It's well known that Mormons lie like rugs ("Milk before meat.") & Huntsman adds proof of duplicity.
In March, as you'll recall, Utah's former Republican Gov. Jon Huntsman, Jr. --- who is believed likely to jump into the GOP Presidential race soon --- was alleged to have committed voter fraud by casting his vote last year via his registration at the governor's mansion despite having resigned and moved out of the address almost two years prior to become President Obama's Ambassador to China.
Also:
As Think Progress noted today, in its story on Maine's new law set to be signed by the new GOP governor that would do away with their 38-year old policy of same-day voter registration, "in-person voter fraud is only slightly more common than unicorns."

"A recent Supreme Court decision upholding a voter ID law," in Indiana, they write, "was only able to cite one example of in-person voter fraud in the last 143 years."

Nonetheless, that did not keep Maine's GOP Chairman Charlie Webster from telling the local media last week: "If you want to get really honest, this is about how the Democrats have managed to steal elections from Maine people...Many of us believe that the Democrats intentionally steal elections."
Second Amendment remedies. Now! And for liar & hypocrite Charlie Webster, added torture, until he begs for the sweet release of death.

Democracy Is A Sad Fucking Joke,
Yet We Aren't Laughing

Per Pensito Review, the Pew Research Center breaks it down for you:
Few Americans know the specifics of political power in Congress. Asked about the legislative branch in a recent News IQ survey, just 38% of the public can say the Republican Party currently has a majority in the House of Representatives. About one-in-ten (11%) say the GOP controls the Senate, 18% believe the Republicans control both houses, 6% say neither and 27% admit they do not know. Republicans are more likely than Democrats to be aware of the details of divided power in Washington. Still, only about half of Republicans (49%) know that the GOP controls only the House, compared with 39% of independents and just 33% of Democrats. As with many political knowledge questions, older adults and those with a college education are more likely to know that the GOP controls the House of Representatives. In a separate question about Congress, just 43% of adults were able to identify John Boehner as the speaker. Nearly two-in-ten (19%) still believed Nancy Pelosi controlled the speaker's gavel. Read more

Arms Race

Maine lawmakers on Wednesday approved legalizing switchblades for people with one arm, moving close to becoming the first state to make such an exception to laws that ban use of the spring-action knives.

Backers of the measure say legalizing switchblades would eliminate a need for one-armed people to be forced to open folding knives with their teeth in emergencies.

The bill to allow amputees and other one-armed people to carry the quick-opening knives cleared Maine's Senate on Wednesday after passing the House on Tuesday, Senate officials said.

Until now, Maine banned the use of switchblades by anyone.

In most states, carrying switchblades is illegal in most circumstances, though owning the knives may be allowed in some states.

Federal law allows their use by a person with one arm only on federal property if the blade is shorter than three inches.

The Maine bill requires that the knives have a blade that is three inches or shorter.

Gov. Paul LePage is expected to sign the measure into law in the next couple of days, said spokeswoman Adrienne Bennett.

Lucky Maine. The whole state at full employment, budget balanced, roads paved, & not much for the legislature to do but file their nails, apparently.

And what inane drone made this a Federal deal as well? The One-Armed Peoples Self-Defense lobby is a new one on us, but they seem powerful. Maybe The Fugitive got them worried, & they've been carefully insinuating themselves into the halls of power for the last forty yrs.

Pinko Fag Insults Torture War Hero

Steve Benen claims that war hero Congressman Allen West is as stupid as can be imagined.
In other words, Allen West has no idea what he's talking about, and he's addressing what he considers his area of expertise. Indeed, House Republicans recently put him on the House Armed Services Committee because of his knowledgeable background on military matters.
Oh, come on. We all know he was put on the Armed Services Committee because of this:

Nixon Redux: You Won't Have
Nut-Meg Whitman To Kick Around Any More!

Whitman Will Not Make Senate Bid

Meg Whitman (R), who was an unsuccessful candidate for California governor last year, said she is "definitely not" considering a Senate bid in 2012, the Wall Street Journal reports.

Said Whitman: "I want to stay involved in public policy. Now I see things in a way that I had not prior to running for public office."
In other words, she's found out that her money can't buy her anything beyond a free pass for her obnoxious & criminally violent spawn.

We'll admit we're disappointed that we won't have any more opportunities to repeat accusations that she's a (CORPORATE) WHORE.
