America's Funniest Painter

Might be worth a Netflix subscription. $8.99, cancel anytime. "... Our most affordable, ad-supported plan". Even if one cancels immediately after watching, do the greedy bastards keep one's initial $8.99? Is there enough for a month's watching? Nope, looks like 14 yrs. of crap in which I've no interest.

From PowerPop.

Sad-Ass Sat.

When America was great, damit!! Nostalgic re-runs, if any of these have been run before, from the hard-drive.
Note the church steeple dominating the town.
And transgenderism is socialist, as droning idiot J.D. Vance just told us. Bonus track:

Friday Freak Out

And tab-clearing.

Jeff Simmons, a Real Mother.
People I know:
Inscrutable, dense, manic, bizarre, intense, aloof, schizophrenic,” once wrote Option Magazine. The Wild Stares, formed in Boston in 1979 by Justin Burrill and Steve Gregororpoulos, joined by Fran Miller Campbell toured Europe and the U.S. several times, releasing many recordings along the way and relocated to L.A in 1988 adding drummer Kyle C. Kyle before morphing into W.A.C.O. in 1993.
Accurate description.

There will always be an England: The Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band.

Booze & Women Wednesday

Remember?

I've vague recollections, but it's been a while.

A draft from 2024 we never got around to publishing.

More Serenades

In honor of the heat wave.
Oddly, I didn't steal it from BarkBarkWoofWoof, but heard the Joanie Sommers version on the radio, & the Coltrane-Hartman take was recommended by a robot/algorithm/something.

Autumn Serenades

Ms. Sommers is best-known for her Top 40 hit, "Johnny Get Angry".
She doesn't mean Johnny Hartman should get angry.

Still On The 'Phone

"Her wrist surreal, a heart and winged skull, lettered 'Life & Love Pass Swiftly'"
NB, kids: Vampires are not all fun & games.

George Gershwin's Birthday Too

Gershwin & Coltrane, two of America's musical giants, born on the same date. Who'da thunk it?
Gershwin died too young too.

His Masterpiece

Won't embed, but worth the listen, w/ live performances & alternative takes.

Coltrane's Centennial

Induction photograph, 1945.
Born on this date, 1926.
J.C. died 17 July 1967, at the age of 40, killed by the pig society that drove him to drink, 50 yrs. too early.

Very Early Autumn

Summer Just Left

As The Planet Revolves

Damn, there are some cats in this one.
I've no interest in petty stuff like days, wks., or months, but I do like to keep up w/ the seasons, not that any exist here.

Tired Of It All Tues.

73 wasted yrs. in this world of shit & pain surrounded by brain-dead doody-heads. And summer will be gone w/in an hr.
Just purchased a stupid, indulgent belated birthday gift for myself. Don't feel any better, maybe when it arrives.

This not-eating thing has worked out well: Eight days to the end of the month & even after indulging myself I've over US$600.00 in the credit union & 18 bones in folding money. Not to mention many dollars in quarters saved for laundry but now made superfluous by WASHConnect, which infects one's 'phone.

Can't possibly spend more than 100 bucks on "necessities" between now & the end of the month, so I s'pose I can indulge myself in the 100+ simoleons of turnouts & other railroading junk I need/want. And of course, the more one buys at one time, the more one makes up for shipping costs. Wheeee!

Currently attempting to consolidate, organize & discard some things that have been piled up all over, many of which have ended up on the only flat surface available.
And elsewhere.

Musical Interlude

There are many versions of "Slave Driver".
Wage-slave until you drop dead. Then imagine how cheap your funeral will be in the booming economy. Win-win!

Dr Oz: "I'll give you a number you'll never forget -- if we can get the average American to be so healthy, so with it, so vital that they just want to work a little longer, it's worth a trillion dollars to the US economy"

I'd like to know if Dr. Oz has ever done physical labor in his life. Fuck him & the bullshit economy, which benefits only the already over-monied.

Further hypocrisy: Why aren't Republicans tarring this bastard w/ their Muslim/Islamist brush, as they do to virtually every other Mohammaden? "Making America Healthy Again" sounds like Sharia Law to me.
Brought to our limited attention by MPS.

Burning Sage Saturday

One classic & a tolerably stupid Todd Rundgren production, recently & often heard over & over & over in truncated &/or covered forms in adverts on the telly.
NB: Hank Snow (The Singing Ranger) is Canadian, b. 1914 in Brooklyn, Nova Scotia. He penned both the above classic* & "I'm Movin' On", which were enough for a lifetime career. Go Canada!!Still don't get it. Are ancient tunes less expensive, or are ad agency music directors admitting that today's music sucks may not even be up to yesterday's drivel?
*Originally from an Australian number. Hank changed the locations.
