Jamelle Bouie has an important piece in the NY Times today (gift link) about the GOP’s Nazi problem, and it is a problem. He points out that there is a whole generation of younger staffers, some of whom have been exposed during this campaign and others who are actually working in the top reaches of the government under Trump. His administration is crawling with white supremacists and neo-Nazis. But he also provides some important historical context to show how we got here.

How did we get here? It is a mystery. Just guessing, but a long tradition of white supremacy, Yankee religiosity, chattel slavery, & the Confederacy might have somethnig to do w/ it.
