Crummier Food At Higher Prices

And if it's worse next summer? Who knows what will happen? Always the possibility the Gulf Stream will collapse & these will be remembered as the "good" old days.

Tedious Tuesday Is Terminal Tedium

USS Reluctant Anchored Off Ennui

Glenn Secrest
"For the most part it stays on its regular run, from Tedium to Apathy and back; about five days each way. It makes an occasional trip to Monotony, and once it made a run all the way to Ennui, a distance of two thousand nautical miles from Tedium."
Route of the cargo ship U.S.S. Reluctant, in the 1946 novel Mister Roberts. Tell me about it. This rustbucket doesn't even move, & I haven't opened the door or had pants on since early Friday evening.

The Hell's Going On Down South?

Another Huge Quake Kills Hundreds

C'mon planet, wake up some volcanoes while you're at it.

Monday Almost Nothing

Would've 'phoned this in but, 'though the lights were on & the 'phone rang, there was nobody home. (There never is in these United Snakes. Whole fucking country's permanently out to lunch.)

Conversely, America is the birthplace of the blues & its chillun, but that was over 100 yrs. ago.

One of the children of the blues: Remastered orig. disc:
Bonus track w/ two alt. takes.
One never knows where an item is headed.

Still Beat

And dead inside.
It's certainly a world of shit & pain, & needs to be completely refurbished, by force. How else?

Made It To Saturday!

After enduring yet another interminable wk. of stultifying boredom & unspeakable horror. Not that wknds. mean a damn thing to me, other than as a vague marker of time.

Some all-time classics on this.
"That should hold the little bastards." Not even 'phoning it in, telegraphing it. Sending it by drum, really.

Big Ball Of Gas

There's a song for everything.

Friday Freak Out

Released sixty yrs. ago June.Remember the "Great Society"? Far from great, but almost infinitely greater than today's "greatness", certainly when viewed through the dim mists of sixty-yr. old memories.

Danger UXB

Hey, where's all das wasser?

Ashes to Ashes, Dust To Dust

In Memoriam,
Zombie Rotten McDonald

This is terribly sad. Zombie Rotten was a long-time close iNternet acquaintance, whom I knew from Sadly, No!, & elsewhere on the web. Can't find his blog, which may have gone the way of all things.

Tengrain's better at these painful events, & he's remembered Zombie Rotten well.

Extra suck: I usually enjoy outliving people, but not this time. Zombie (legal name, Brain L. Miller) was a mere 64, & died of a fall at home, of all things. Watch yourselves, people! And a mensch in meatspace, judging from the memorial page.

Still remember Lucy, the Leaky-Ass Dog, whom he often mentioned.

Probably Not

Sudden thought while looking at the rolling stock on the flex-track: I could make a yard here.
The space might not work, however, & I'd only have to "invest" a couple of hundred dollars (minimum) in turn-outs,
so nagonna happen.

Not Feeling It

No inspiration, no desire to be inspired.
Truer words were never placed on a sticker.
Nonethelsss, forced myself to choose something.
BACK TO MONO!

Friday (Festive) Freak Out

Seven-twelfths through another horrid yr.; lively yourselves up while you can.
No, I've no idea what the video has to do w/ the song.

Friday The 31st:
End Of A Horrible Month

Brick. From the Int'l. Review of Music.
Local luminary, author of Brick's Picks for the L.A. Weekly & other writing, drummer & one-time friend Phillip "Brick" Wahl up & died, unexpectedly to me at least, leaving his wife of many yrs. Phyllis, his brother Lex & many friends. For many yrs. Brick & Phyll hosted a bash the Saturday night before Xmas, an obligatory gathering. I've no words, but here are a few. Search results.

And Jennifer Finch, bassist of L7 & photog, at 59, of "aggressive" brain cancer. She stopped by bar-be-ques at my party house w/ band-mate Suzi Gardner a couple of times, & rehearsed a rasslin' women event conceived & directed by Tequila Mockingbird on cardboard spread over the living room floor. People on F-book who knew her were quite broken up. Rolling Stone.
In a 2017 Rolling Stone profile of the band, she was described as “an ill-behaved and untrained bassist who added instant verve to their live act.”
Rest of the month: Studio tenor giant Plas Johnson, who made 92, & a few others who created good stuff & lived into their late seventies & eighties.

Thurs. Track Testing

Still not nearly as irritating, irksome, tedious, banal & annoying as the horrible outside world you damn cretins have made for everyone.

Arlene Smith, Musical Barrier Breaker, Dead At 84

Arlene Smith, one of the first “girl group” stars who as a teenager and a founder of the Chantels co-wrote and sang lead on the 1950s doo-wop classic “Maybe,” has died at 84.
Quite a life, & some history there too.

World On Fi-Yuh!

Asteroid Smut

Popular Science sez:
“We’re in the realm where we might be essentially killing off everything within that first hour or two,” said Brandon Johnson, a Purdue University planetary scientist and study co-author.

Chicxulub would have immediately wiped out all life within a wide radius of its impact along the Cretaceous–Paleogene boundary, the geological demarcation between the age of the dinosaurs and the Cenozoic era. Traveling at a rate of speed of about 12 miles-per-second, the asteroid struck Earth with the equivalent force of 100 teratons of TNT—more than one billion times the strength of the atomic blasts at Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The blast created a 62-mile-wide, 19-mile-deep cavity while generating two-mile-high tsunamis and 620 mph winds. Around 25 trillion metric tons of debris rocketed into the atmosphere, which then rained down on Earth as fiery missiles called spherules to set forests ablaze.

Bring. It. On! Two hrs. is quick enough for me.
