Philip Bump / Washington Post:
Trump touts an economic metric not seen in the U.S. since ... Bush — President Trump began his day Monday with a blizzard of tweets, some original, some retweets of supporters offering pro-Trump or anti-Trump-opponent messages. Those retweets were unusual; he doesn't often retweet people.Linda Qiu / New York Times: Trump Falsely Claims G.D.P. Growth Is Higher Than Unemployment ‘for the First Time in 100 Years’Aaron Rupar / ThinkProgress: Trump fabricates Obama quote in tweetChris Isidore / CNN: Trump's latest boast about the economy isn't even close to accurateSteve Benen / MSNBC: Trump's economic illiteracy keeps getting in the wayDan Desai Martin / Shareblue Media: Trump managed to lie about the economy 64 times in just one tweet
This will end well, won't it?Think about that. American auto executives are terrified ofthe US presidentTrump tweeting some nonsense or enacting punitive measures because he has no clue what he's talking about. He's a wrecking ball who has one dim idea that makes little sense, based upon made up statistics, and if anyone challenges him he sees it as a personal betrayal and sets out to destroy them.
