Here's what TheDC's second commenter had to add:Sports journalist and professor Kevin Blackistone declared that the national anthem should not be played before sporting events on Wednesday, saying that a “war anthem” should not be conflated with a “simple game.”
In a discussion on ESPN’s “Around the Horn,” Blackistone and a number of other panelists discussed Northwestern University’s American flag-themed uniforms, which have stirred controversy for their blood-stained appearance.
Blackistone, however, took things one step further, saying sports are too rife with “military symbolism.” His examples included “singing a war anthem to open every game” and “going to get a hot dog and being able to sign up for the army at the same time.”
“You are conflating a war anthem with a simple game,” he admonished.
Wow, Blackistone, tell us how you really feel about being an American or a sports fan.
Now we know who the real racists are, right libtards? |
Anyway, the Goldbergian Andrew Johnson (No more the typist's real name than our real name is Richard M. "Dick" Nixon. Who in hell are they trying to kid w/ this shit?) found it at Weasel Zippers (getting lower on the info chain) whose never-before-heard projective reaction is:
Then again, patriotism has never been very popular among libs. Not when patriotism means no more than "War today, war tomorrow, war forever," no.
Longer, from what may be the original source of outrage, something called TruthRevolt, which is so far down the info chain they don't understand how media works in a culture where one corporate entity can print money from both opinionating about sports events & broadcasting the events themselves, but do expect a Stalinist toeing of the line across any organization.
This exploitation of veterans & those still trapped in the service is repugnant to real Americans (Shame on you, Disney Co.) but Truth Revolt (They are truly revolting you know.) must have blinded itself to any truth (Ironic!!) about the military, propaganda, jingoism & so much else.Published on Nov 8, 2013ESPN plays ad for Monday Night Football even though a sportscaster lambasted the National Anthem.
Ah-ha, now it's officially an outrage, do you hear, an outrage ("Where's the outrage?") as FOX has its claws in it.We could well be an attorney, esquire, or even a judge; yes the uniforms are ugly & are in violation of the flag code.
Just fucking awful:

American Football would be much more tolerable if it were played with machine guns.
And Robots Editor:
Games would be faster too.
Not sure why you limit small arms just to U.S. footsball.
Mainly because football is the quintessential violent, militaristic American game.
