I saw Roky Erickson open for, of all bands, Rush once upon a time. I also really really like Okkervil River.
"Sweet Blood Of Jesus!" Editor Is Horrified:Probably the squarest outfit anyone's heard of that we ever saw was REO Speedwagon, opening for either BÖC or F. Zappa. (Both gigs at The Shrine, is why we aren't more exact.) Them zombie fellas are a dime a dozen, a drug on the market, even.
I once saw Foghat open for BOC. Blue Fog tour, not kidding.
also, NRBQ opening for REM. Good, but weird.
Editor Tops:Foghat w/ FZ, Winterland, San Francisco, spring break '71. Good enough Limey blues-rock.Memory now empty.
