Annals of Lumber

We didn't dare publish anything yesterday, Sat. the 13th being too close to Fri. the 13th. Besides, between the hideous Metrolink accident & George ("It is this reporter's opinion...") Putnam dying, events have been just too overwhelming for us to add anything. As for now, "Be vewy quiet, we'uh sweeping."

The train wreck is truly horrific.

You must really be watching TV, as I hadn't heard about George Putnam dying. He actually appeared in a film noir as himself, a pretty good one called "Fourteen Hours" with Richard Basehart.

P.S. Did you hear that the Metrolink engineer was texting some trainspotting teenagers when he blew through the red signal?

The Editor States:

As a regular (for the past 35 yrs.) user of L. A.'s public transit, even we are horrified.

We had heard that the engineer was txtg w/ teens, but didn't know the context was trainspotting. Our active, smutty imagination led us to other reasons for a person of about our age (ancient, in case you don't know) to be txtg young'uns.

We heard about G. P. on the radio, & read it in the dog-trainer. Tee vee just isn't as compelling as it used to be. (What's wrong w/ us? We truly are losing our mind.)

Oh no! Telebision isn't as compelling as it used to be??!? Bouff, speak to us! Tell us you're okay! I can't imagine you not being compelled by TV!

The Editor Responds:

Well, it's hard to be compelled by basic, non-digital cable. Although the cable being out today has disturbed us quite a bit. And we all know it's not a good idea to disturb Malignant Bouffant, as he is already quite disturbed!!
