ICYMI: "Pure Hell" In Kentucky

Lost over the wknd., because it happened 30 June:
ALLEN, Ky. (AP) — Three law enforcement officers were killed and five wounded in eastern Kentucky when a man with a rifle opened fire on police attempting to serve a warrant, authorities said.

Police took 49-year-old Lance Storz into custody late Thursday night after an hours-long standoff at a home in Allen, a small town in the hills of Appalachia.

An emergency management official was also injured and a police dog was killed, according to the arrest citation.

The responding officers encountered “pure hell” when they arrived on the scene, Floyd County Sheriff John Hunt told reporters Friday afternoon.

“They had no chance,” he said.

Hunt said four deputies initially responded, then called for backup when they were shot at. The sheriff said Storz surrendered after negotiations that included his family members. Hunt had told local media the deputies were serving a court-issued warrant Thursday evening related to a domestic violence situation.

Further details:
Floyd County Judge-Executive Robbie Williams said the officers did not know they were walking into an ambush and the shooter had a field of fire of more than 200 yards (180 meters), the Lexington Herald-Leader reported.

“There was one single-lane road leading into his home and the home was in an elevated position. This created a nearly unbreachable position,” Williams said.

The officers “performed valiantly, and did everything in their power to neutralize the suspect and attempt a surrender,” Williams said.

“Upon surrender, the reality and magnitude of what just occurred began to sink in and our community was going to be forever changed,” Williams said.

The "Good Guy w/ a Gun" thing doesn't work that often. Not even four armed good guys against one armed domestic abuser.

P.S.: Spotted the above while scoping this. Considering the crazy shit Marjorie Taylor Greene says, on her social media & everywhere else, shouldn't the guns w/ which she likes to pose be taken away from her, assuming they are hers & not rented props?

It sounds like Mr Storz had a plan and set up fields of fire around his property because he knew that the cops were going to come and arrest him. Maybe he was using his 2nd amendment right to protect himself and his property from the fascist police. I certainly wouldn't believe what the sheriff was telling the press because cops lie all the time. The way I see it, if you don't want to get shot to pieces while serving a warrant, then don't be a cop.
