Talk about paying more for less. After slashing staff, budgets, freelance rates and page counts, the LA Times is raising the price of its print edition.Page count last time we bought the damn thing (for reading while on public transit): 50. That would be 2¢ a page, at least some of which still have ads on them.
The cost of the weekday paper will increase to $1.00 from 75 cents. The Sunday edition will increase from $1.50 to $2.00. Changes go into effect on Labor Day.
So far we’ve seen mention of the price increase in the Washington Post, The Sacramento Bee, Newsday, and NBC Los Angeles. But we can’t find any information in the LA Times itself.
The paper last increased newsstand prices two years ago. when it went from 50 to 75 cents for the weekday edition.

If we hadn't already given up on daily purchase of the local fish-wrapper, this would have sealed (Unsealed?) the deal.

will the pages be even narrower than they are now?
Print Edition Editor:
Not sure that's possible, short of going tabloid. Maybe they'll print it on paper towel rolls.
Our local rag went tabloid last year. The BallnChain still buys even though the price has doubled in three years and he gets a lot less in the tabloid edition.
Fuckers...and on labor day..how quaint!
Oh..and you stellar pov on this item please?
My Pad's have a firm grip on last place..bless their worthless asses. ;-D
Third Place Editor:
Two items down for our PoV on China owning everything.
And stop trying to make us sympathize w/ you & the Padres.
And stop trying to make us sympathize w/ you & the Padres. Oh hush up ya wanker..I seek no sympathy as you get what you pay for..and the Padres do all their shopping at Kmart.
You, on the other hand should be embarrassed for the Dodgers, who are still under 500. Just saying... ;-P
Really? Ed.:
You read this crap & still think we're capable of embarrassment?
Gotta keep Jonah Goldberg paid. That's QUALITY.
Laughing my brown ass off Bouffant! I would hope you are still capable of the 'e' word..when it comes to those Dodgers. But, its really no one's fault but Frankie babies..is it? I feel sorry for first year manager Mattingly. This poor sot waited years to get his shot and look what the guy got..jaysus, it's enough to make even me cry for him.
"E" Editor:
I would hope you are still capable of the 'e' word.
Hey, it may not work like it used to, but that's no reason to ... Oh, uh, heh ... yeah, sure, whatever you say.
