98th Anniversary of
the debut. Didn't know/remember/connect that the
Théâtre des Champs-élysées, where the controversy & outrage happened, was the same venue where we saw The Who crank through
Tommy in 1970.

I knew this piece from old LPs of my dads' but I heard this played live only once, on one of the opening day events at Disney Hall, with my kid.
It was amazing to hear it in a hall that live.
Durh! That Salonen cut might be what Max and I saw.
Symphonic Editor Regrets:
Big Stravinsky/Rite fan, but never managed to see Salonen conduct it, & now he's gone.
