Same Shit, Hotter Day

Nagonna "research," but how many times has this boilerplate

How air conditioning remade modern America

Would it surprise you to learn just how revolutionary that A/C unit of yours really is?

been polished a bit & submitted in the last X yrs.?

And how disappointing that after recycling all that the typist never mentions the changes that air conditioning brought directly to politics & gummint: Air conditioning has made it possible for legislative bodies to stay in session much longer than they used to.

Like Washington, D.C., California's capital, Sacramento, is a humid, hot wasteland much of the yr. Before air conditioning, many legislatures preferred to leave their capitals the minute the hot & muggy started. No longer.

When I was a kid in D.C. we had no air conditioner in our room.

Just a fan...ran it all day and night in the summer.

Heat Index Editor:
Bought a 10-in. "high velocity" fan (sounds like a Piper Cub taxiing when it's in high) to go w/ the ceiling fan.

Still moist 'though.
