That large-lens look is coming back in fashion for eyeglasses, you know.
Still, sorry your friend is now-late. I went back and read my comment and now I am still wondering whether any of my former associates have passed on. Sadly, there are certainly enough friends in that category to count.
This was posted by a friend as two other ladies we knew who were also friends of our late ex & ours recently passed on, to euphemise, though I'd never been "associated" w/ either of them. (One of the two no longer w/ us being Andrea True, who may have tortured your ears in the '70s.)
The cycling of fashion from small/narrow to big/wide never ends. As a dedicated wearer of aviator-style shades for the last X yrs. we're not sure we welcome big shades making us fashionable again.

I used to be south of 50, err 40, etc. meself.
Current plan: outlive slobs and horrible skin-sacks like Karl Rover, Roger (FAUX Nooze) Ailes, etc.
