Pink's Line

Never figured it out. The sheep weren't lined up like lambs to the slaughter during the '70s, but at a point which we didn't notice (The '80s? We left the general neighborhood in 1985 & didn't keep a close eye on things after that.) Pink's caught on, mostly, we surmise, w/ tourist scumvisitors to our fair city, & now, per this item, it takes an hour to get your dog. We can't confirm that it does take an hr., 'cause we aren't waiting five damn mins. for a fugging chili dog, esp. not in a line w/ bloated mid-Westerners & their mutant spawn who think a visit to the Gap store at Hollywood & Highland is intrinsically different from a visit to the Gap in Podunk, but there sure as hell is a long, long line there every time we wander past.
Disgusting detail.

I couldn't be arsed waiting on line for an hour for any food or food-like substance.
The whole point of a chili dog is to get it fast.
It's still made from all sorts of questionable inputs, if you know what I mean.

Food & Think Editor:
Indeed, that people will wait an hr. confirms that it isn't pressed/arsed for time locals wasting said time.
The specialty did not cause nausea 30 yrs. ago.
Best hot dogs in the greater LA area:
Vicious Dogs
5231 Lankershim Boulevard
North Hollywood
Fast service, too.
Phobic Ed.:
Red Line accessible, & therefore somewhat w/in our comfort zone.
But if a place buys its dogs from a commercial provider, how can claims of "best" be valid? It all comes out of the same ground up pig anus.
First job when I moved to LA in 1997 was at the Pantages Theatre, and on a matinee break, I wandered down to La Brea and Melrose, and stood in line at Pinks and got a dog (the lines were note bad then). It wasn't bad, but it wasn't memorable.
The only other time I've had a Pink's dog was when they set up a stall at a charity event. And to be fair, they are very good about doing this - they are always at the Planned Parenthood spring benefit in Santa Monica.
So I cut Pink's some slack, on that basis. And if I'm at such a benefit, I enjoy the dogs. But I have no interest in standing in line on La Brea.
Oh, and Raven Rant? Try Let's Be Frank in the parking lot at the Helms Bakery complex in Culver City
Arts & Chow Editor:
Yup, neither bad nor astounding.
Gloria Pink came into the FedExKinkos where we used to wage-slave; she was nice enough.
Raven may be a bit prejudiced. We found Vicious Dogs on Yelp, & next door to it (in the same bldg., even) is a theater called the RAVEN.
Did you ever try Molly's, just south of the Huntington Hartford on Vine? They grilled a good burger, so naturally they've been pushed out for office space.
