on a related note, it seems that we finally have an occupant in the bat house we mounted on our chimney; that little flying mammal was swooping through the backyard chowing on mosquitoes something fierce tonight.
Bat-Shit Editor:You don't have skeeter trucks up/back there?Seriously, do you have to make the bat house look like a cave? Does it have dowels they hang from when they're taking bat-naps?
it's kind of just a narrow box with a slot at the bottom, and there's a vent slot towards the top. We even painted the outside to match our house.there's a plastic mesh on the back wall for them to cling to.
I once watched one eating a pigeon in the parking lot outside the Santa Monica Courthouse.
