The outside world was so cold & windblown Friday when we stepped outside we were inspired to combine Trader Joe's pot roast & his garlic & Parmesan potatoes.
Curious whether you've ever tried Trader Joe's Meat and Potatoes, which is a frozen item.
I am not one for prepared foods, usually, but I have to admit that that every time I've sampled something of this nature at TJ's, I am mighty impressed by how far we've come from teevee dinner technology.
Short-Order Editor Reveals: We've been at the food trough for yrs. It's just that we only eat prepared/frozen foods (we are lazy, cooking is dull as dishwater). Also trying to disgust w/ our awful habits, of course.
We've resisted TJ's M&P; too obvious an attempt in our direction, but it does reduce # of bags to be opened compared w/ this dish. We'll let you know.
Had onion; lazy. The taters are pretty flavorful anyway.
I can identify with the feeling about cooking being dull. I would say, or would have said, that I find it tedious, especially when cooking for one -- hours of work (it seems)of prep and cleanup in return for mere minutes of inhalation.
However. I have finally figured out that I do not actually find either prepping or cleaning up tedious. In fact, I find both of those quite pleasant activities. The problem, for me, at least, is the anticipation/contemplation; i.e., the hard part is just getting started.
Also, I recommend alcohol. Either as an accompaniment or reward. Or both.

Sometimes you just can't top meat and potatoes. That's not true--you can top it with onions and mushrooms!
