Threat Level

Majority Say Government
Threatens Personal Freedoms

A new Pew Research survey finds "trust in the federal government remains mired near a historic low, while frustration with government remains high. And for the first time, a majority of the public says that the federal government threatens their personal rights and freedoms.

"The poll found shows [sic] "that 53% think that the federal government threatens their own personal rights and freedoms while 43% disagree."
Name. Just. One.

Well, this is obviously driven by the right wing nullify states rights ruby ridge secession crowd.

But there's also the response to occupy, free speech zones, militarization, the surveillance state, NSA, TSA, stop n frisk, and copyright-as-censorship...

It's about time people woke up.

It's not about their guns, it's about being spied on without warrants. And suspending the bill of rights when "Waronterra" is called.

Self-important puffed up assholes. Actually, bloviating wingnuts, no one is interested in you. Until you fuck with other people.

This reminds me of the Clinton days when the right railed about black helicopters, then suddenly during the Bush years they all said, "Well, if you don't have any reason to hide things, it's OK to give over your rights to privacy." Now they've flipped the other side.

Funniest thing is to hear those who thought that ID checks for voting was a good idea and who cares how long you have to wait in line????? complaining about the personal inconvenience of waiting for a background check to buy a deadly weapon.

It is pretty interesting how the right and left can agree on something while coming at it from two entirely different angles.
