It's kind of hard for me to take a position on this. See, I was a young man in the seventies and we wore some weird-ass shit.
But no. I don't get the point of the beanies...

Is there a difference between a "woolie beanie hat" and what we here on the cold coast have always worn at this time of year, and called "(woolen) ski caps"?
Okay. I'll admit my most recently acquired one is from Streb, and it is way cool. BUT IT WAS A GIFT.

The official guess here is that it's these w/ the knit strings being referred (they're certainly the silliest thing hipsters sport) as opposed to what we know as a Navy-style watch cap.
Do I also have to wear glasses without lenses?

Thanks, MB. Yes, those dangly things confuse me, as they appear to be without function or form. However, since I have been of the opinion since I was a young person that 95% of young people's fashion choices are made with the conscious intent of irritating us Olds, I try not to let them win.
To add to your reply to Dave: or if you want to look like you play in the NBA. And apropos of the picture, I would say that Dave only has to wear such "glasses" if he has already made a certain other fashion choice:
