Swine Flu Prompts U.S. to Declare Public Health Emergency
American health officials Sunday declared a public health emergency, saying they had confirmed 20 cases of the swine flu in the United States & expected to see more as investigators fan out to track down the path of the outbreak.
Officials said that most of the cases had been mild and urged Americans not to panic. The emergency declaration frees resources for diagnosing or preventing additional cases, & releases money for more antiviral drugs.

I've been using [br] tags, which don't need closing. I have been informed that you can stick line breaks inside the bold or italics tags to achieve the same result.

I've seen those!! Will they work? Used them for title breaks, but don't get why they are suddenly needed here.
