J. Kim Murphy / Variety:ESPN, ABC, Disney Channel, and other Disney outlets go dark on Charter's Spectrum, which serves ~15M subscribers, after failing to agree on a new carriage pact — ESPN, ABC, Disney Channel and other outlets owned by the Walt Disney Co. have gone dark on Charter Spectrum cable systems …Daniel Frankel / Next TV: ESPN, ABC and 24 Other Disney Channels Blacked Out for Charter's 14.7 Million Spectrum Pay TV CustomersJoe Flint / Wall Street Journal: Why Spectrum Customers Can't Watch the U.S. Open and College FootballSharon Knolle / The Wrap: Disney Pulls All Channels From Spectrum During Contract DisputeRyan Glasspiegel / New York Post: ESPN goes dark for Florida-Utah amid dispute with Charter's Spectrum cableLucas Shaw / @lucas_shaw: Millions of people can't watch espn just in time for the us open and college football. https://www.bloomberg.com/...Kendall Baker / @kendallbaker: I'm pretty sure it's the other way around, no? Spectrum removed Disney programming, hoping to piss off enough people and make Disney look so bad that Disney cavesDavid Slack / @slack2thefuture: Disney has removed all their programming from Spectrum's cable service because they can't agree on a deal. So... looks like Bob Iger actually does understand that withholding your services is a “reasonable” way to get what you're worth. #WGAStrong https://disneyespnfairdeal.com/David Slack / @slack2thefuture: @kendallbaker While it's technically Spectrum that removes the channels, it was Disney's choice not to take a bad deal, and since Spectrum has don't this many times before, there's no way they didn't know this would be the result. So this is Disney withholding ESPN to pressure Spectrum.Jeff Wilcox / @jeffwilcox: Sent from my parents, so frustrating that these companies use their customers' rage to try and restore access to cable channels. Nice one Disney and Spectrum. Same junk as insurance companies like Premera fighting against the hospital oligopoly. [image]@stoolgambling: Imagine having a bet in Utah/Florida and Spectrum decides to start their protest against ESPN at kickoff [image]Meg James / Los Angeles Times: Disney pulls ABC, ESPN, FX and other channels from Charter Spectrum service@fmch6444: This is what happens when Congress allowed cable companies to merge & take over large % of areas. We need them broken up like Ma Bell had her ass broken up. NO #Monopoly ! #Spectrum #Disney #corporategreed@variety: The blackout of Disney-owned channels on Spectrum came during the highly anticipated match-up between Carlos Alcaraz and Lloyd Harris at the U.S. Open, which ESPN had been broadcasting. https://variety.com/...Beau Bishop / @beaubishop: I'm the one. I'm on record. Pro cable guy here, figure it out. Asap. Clock ticking.@ask_spectrum: The Walt Disney Company has removed their programming from Spectrum. Spectrum is on your side and fighting hard to resolve this situation and keep costs down while protecting and maximizing customer choice. We apologize for the inconvenience. Learn More: https://disneyespnfairdeal.com/@navycaptret63xx: @Ask_Spectrum @Spectrum what's the deal with this Disney @ESPN not broadcasting and going dark with College Football and NFL football starting this weekend? Absolutely absurd and unbelievable that's why I'm with @YouTubeTV https://deadline.com/...Aaron Torres / @aaron_torres: The irony of this for @GetSpectrum: They're trying to blame this on ESPN for charging too much. You think I give a shit about paying an extra $3 a month for ESPN, when the whole concept of a cable bundle is a scam? Get ESPN back. Or you will have no customers come MondayAaron Torres / @aaron_torres: Holy shit. Spectrum stopped showing any ESPN channels, the second the Florida-Utah game went live. Hey @GetSpectrum, none of your customers care about what happens behind the scenes. No ESPN? None of us have any problem dropping you for another service. FIGURE. IT. OUT. [image]Alex Sherman / @sherman4949: A Disney-Charter carriage dispute isn't necessarily that interesting on its face. Carriage disputes happen fairly regularly. But Charter is holding a 730 am investor call tomorrow to talk about this one ... that signals Charter has a broader investor message. Could be interesting.Deadline: ESPN, Other Disney Networks & ABC Stations Go Dark On Spectrum Cable Systems In Carriage Fight

I don't own a TV or an automobile which makes me an Unamerican American but I don't care because most TV advertising is ultimately all about selling more cars to fill the highways and streets of the urban hellscape that has been imposed on us all by our capitalist overlords.
