SANTA ANA (CBSLA.com) — A suspect was killed by Santa Ana police after a short foot pursuit Tuesday afternoon.
Authorities initially responded to a disturbance call around 3 p.m. at a McDonald’s parking lot in the Harbor Place Shopping Center in the 600 block of South Harbor Boulevard.
There were reports a man was being “combative,” said Cpl. Anthony Bertagna of the Santa Ana Police Department.
Police chased the suspect in question to a nearby juice shop, where the man was shot. He was declared dead at the scene.
It’s unknown if the suspect was armed.
No further details are available at this time.

We are especially amused by "suspect" here. To the police we must all look like combative suspects. And it's always open season.

More on that shooting from various sources: The guy was unarmed. The guy was apparently out of his gourd and had run around the strip mall shoving people and groping women. The cop that found him hiding in the juice shop was a woman cop. He jumped out and shoved her, she pulled out her gun and shot him down.
I don't have anything against women in police work, crap, my current novel has a female cop in it who kicks major ass, but goddamnit, if you can't physically handle an unarmed perp you got no business being a cop. And unfortunately, the vast majority of the female cops I see couldn't physically handle any perp bigger than a 12 year old boy. Yeesh.

When asked why the officer didn’t Taser the suspect, Rojas said, “Could the officer have had other options? There’s always a lot of different options you have in these situations. It really comes down to the mindset of the officer at that time and what threat they may have been facing.”
Shoot first, ask questions later.
Or, the suspect was behaving in a threatening manner.
If the cops say it was "threatening" that makes it a reality, according to them. The story I heard, he called her a bitch and asked her what she was going to do about it. So she shot him dead.
That's fucked up. I don't care, tase him if he's uncooperative, give him a few whacks with the flashlight for the "bitch" thing, but put the guy in jail, don't kill him.
Aunt Snow, once she pulled that gun, she had to kill him with it or else he would have yanked it out of her hand and killed *her* with it. That's what happens when political correctness says "women can do everything men can do" when it just plain isn't true -- the average woman is too small and weak to physically handle the average suspect, meaning deadly force is the only way to defend herself against the average suspect. Just a matter of size and strength, the top 1% of women athletes aren't as large and strong as the 50th percentile average perp.
But remember, what we're really supposed to be scared of is people being killed by DROANS! OMG! GUBMIT OVERREACH! CONSTIMATUTION! BLARG!

The witness who recorded it on his cell:
“She exited her patrol car, gun drawn, and asked the gentlemen to get on the ground. The gentlemen didn’t get on the ground, he was still inside the restaurant. She asked again. The man then exited the restaurant, and as he was exiting the restaurant, he said, ‘What are you gonna do, b—-?’ About a second later, she shot him in the chest,” he said.
She had her gun drawn when she was getting out of her car? Hmmmm ...
