Moyers Explains Alinsky

[T]he name Alinksy didn't even ring a bell when it first got trotted out, round about the time the Wright and Ayers cards finally went flaccid.
No bell for us either.

This may help:Bill Moyers Essay: Newt's Obsession with Saul Alinsky from BillMoyers.com. We found it at truthdig. Bonus self-link to an Alinsky link. From one of many alma maters, yet.

Hey thanks! x2!

That Moyers sure does know to explain things, doesn't he?

Thank you for bringing it to our attention, & close enough to our sighting the Moyers item that we still remembered it & made the connection. The actual tipping point was the chance to self-link.

Could we be arsed, we'd see if anything came of the "symposium, workshop and training" of two+ yrs. ago.

The first part of your older post reminded me of some new-to-me head-banging material, and I don't mean the kind Beavis and Butthead would have liked.

Also: Self-linking: can it get worse?

Yes!

(I admit that I link to my own tweets fairly frequently. That's to punish people whose email addresses I have, who still don't believe in the Twitter.)

Anyway, had you heard of that? I suppose it's just anecdotes. But maybe there should be a "so far" at the end there. Sounds like the beginning of a very familiar movie, doesn't it?

Yikes. Odd that in a democracy, the squeaky wheel still gets greased. Same principle as 50 form letters to the FCC or network complaining about a tee vee show outweighing the millions who watch & more or less enjoy whatever program.

I blame Margaret Mead. That bitch.

But seriously, it is the case that especially in a republic like ours, people who are narrowly focused and correspondingly noisy tend to have tremendous sway.

Also, we got it soft here in the US, compared to most of human history, so I think a lot of us take a lot of what we enjoy for granted, and thus find ourselves repeatedly overrun by the barbarians.

Barbaric Editor:

Mead said "thoughtful" though.

One of the many drawbacks of representative democracy, but a little austerity oughta toughen up the citizens before the barbarians get here.

I'm afraid that the barbarians are in our midst, have been for a long time, and are only getting worse as they find out what "austerity" feels like when it comes home to them.

I honestly do not see any other way to describe the anti-science stances, the overall willful ignorance, the mindless tribalism, the xenophobia, the trigger-finger mentality, but as barbaric.

More on the barbarians in our midst.

Another positive thinker heard from: "We have met the barbarians, & they is us."

Wait, you interrupt this w/ Howard Stern?

Like the man says, "I’ll be the first to admit that I’m not a big Howard Stern fan." However, I do appreciate that he's come around on some important issues, and given the sort of person I imagine listens to him regularly, hey, every little bit helps.
