Editorial From An Alternate Earth,
By The Financial Times

Joe Biden must confront the left's cultural over-reach  —  Many liberal Americans too worry about the excesses of progressive activism  —  Last month, Bill Maher, a pot-smoking bachelor and no one's idea of a traditionalist, used his HBO talk show to attack America's political left.
Could we worry a bit about the fascist right's political over-reach, to wit, sedition, insurrection, fraud, voter & voting suppression, allowing state legislatures to decide whose votes are counted, yada, rather than distracting the rubes w/ culture war clichés?

(Oh, right. It's the F.T. They want the sheep distracted from economic & political truth. Knowing that makes all this an exercise in futility. Why bother, to coin a phrase.)

And perhaps there could be a call for more than two or three elected Republicans to condemn that over-reach & referring to 6 January 2021 at the Capitol as "legitimate political discourse", rather than calling on Biden to do something about whatever in hell "cultural over-reach" is. A damn shame we couldn't read some examples, as if anything beyond the alternate-reality headline were needed to generate yucks.
Nonetheless, the headline's silliness is confirmed in the selection above from memeorandim, via the newsreader. The ancient by iNternet standards "Even the liberal Bill Maher" schtick. Sweet blood of Jesus, a pot-smoking bachelor* attacked the left? Will the F.T. soon breathlessly advise us that a dog has bitten a man?

As far as "cultural activism", I must wonder if the F.T. chanced to mention actual book banning by rightist-dominated gov't. agencies & legislatures & private party religious-based (only one so far) book burning? Or the armed intimidation that's becoming more popular on the right?
*Th' hell? Would it be worth mentioning if a booze-swilling guy who had two or three marriages & abandoned families under his belt opened his big yap? Hey, y'know who else is a bachelor & has attacked America's political left? Lindsey Graham, for one. Drug-abuser & long-time bachelor who literally declared war on America? Adolf Hitler.

Bill Maher? The guy who's made millions of dollars laying claim to atheism yet never passes up the opportunity to remind us he is of (((God's Chosen People)))? That's the source of the FT windbreaking? I used to take the FT seriously.

"Lifelong bachelor" is polite company for ... well, never-mind ...
