Like, Whatever, Man

Ironic, innit?
The only concern or interest I have in the death of Tom Petty, lame-ass mid-tempo alleged "rocker", is that he was a mere two yrs. older than I am. (Emphasis on the "am", ha ha!)

Frankly, Rolling Stone, I can't think of a single fucking icon that Petty clasted. His whole s(c)htick seemed pretty derivative to this critic.

Ouch, Bouffant. Tom Petty was a solid southern rocker who made it through the ntire 1980s without being derailed by the saccharine American pop music of the time. Comparisons to Dylan and Springsteen were inevitable, as they were all signed onto Columbia. But Petty didn't have their level of West Village songwriter cred. But The Waiting and American Girl became classic rock hits. There was something sincere and good about a rare Floridian who could entertain millions. I suppose if you don't like Petty you don't like the superior Pretenders, either?
