I used to really enjoy making my own gear. From lock torque tools to customized pry bars (protip - start with a thing called the 'Wonder Bar' and a grinder) and other tools. I made a tire deflation device out of an old geologists rock hammer - sharpened it to a spike. You could walk by and just swing it and keep moving. It was massively effective. Traded it to a kid for a quarter pound of coke he'd stolen from some yuppie...

Glad I'd not staggering home uphill through the old 'hood from some drunken event at X in the a.m. tomorrow when no doubt every oink in the Northeast Division will be on patrol there. Esp. if I had any sharp object on my person.
