A meteorite shot across the sky in central Russia early on Friday and sent fireballs crashing to Earth, smashing windows, setting off car alarms and injuring 150 people. We're a little surprised that news of Wayne LaPierre-anoid's pathetic screed hit the rest of the universe so quickly, but if it brought some action we're not complaining.
"Wayne LaPierre-anoid" from Victor at No More Mr. Nice Blog. Instant classic!

what, he didn't shoot it down?
@AS: Haha! I was just trying to put together such a response, but nothing I had came anywhere near in succinctness. Glad you beat me to it.
To the post's opening point, though: one thing I have not been able to stop thinking about all day is that this event indicates to me that our world has measurably improved on at least one critical score. Can you imagine something streaking into the atmosphere and exploding over Russia during the height of the Cold War? We'd be in a global fucking panic right now, assuming we're weren't all already preemptively nuked.
