Devil-Box Up-Date

Score one for Toshiba: After many hrs. of a purple screen of death & no visible action on the hard drive L.E.D. I unplugged the laptop & let it stew as I slept. When I plugged it in & applied power it spent some 10 mins. advising me it was "Undoing changes made to your computer..." & then started working almost as well as prior to its & Microsoft's vain attempt to update. Even slower, & pages are constantly non-responsive, mind you. I just don't get it. Does electricity slow down or something?
