No Snitching?

Nope, expect more snitching now there's a Squealer App from the Los Angeles Sheriff's Dep't. Metro Squad.
Joke: Not the L.A.P.D.'s Metro Squad, another story entirely you may research on your own, & also a joke because what sort of Sheriff's Deputy is assigned to the Metro(politan Transit) part of the Sheriff's noble Dep't.? Let's just say that protecting the friends of retired-in-disgrace-Sheriff Baca no doubt holds a higher priority than protecting the poorly paid & other losers who ride public transit.

WHAT TO LOOK FOR:P.S.: Bush Admin. roots:
Launched in 2003, Transit Watch is a nationwide public awareness outreach campaign that encourages the active participation of transit passengers and employees in maintaining a safe transit environment. The campaign was also designed to help foster the role of transit as a safe haven in communities across the country. The goal was to create a useful toolkit that enabled transit agencies to customize the materials with local information and select the campaign and accompanying visuals that would most effectively address specific community interests and concerns to maximize interest and involvement.
And equivocation:
*Please note:The language in the Unattended Items Campaign reflects a cautionary position advising that the public “call from a safe distance.” This language is optional.  In 2003, the FBI recommended that cellular phones, radios and pagers should not be used within 50 feet of suspected improvised explosive devices (IEDs). Although further research is necessary to prove causation, sparks generated by batteries inside cellular phones or by electromagnetic waves emitted by cellular phones may trigger explosions. Recent guidelines published by the National Transit Institute reflect this stance, warning that transit employees “…not use a radio or cell phone if you suspect an explosive device” and to “…avoid using radios or cell phones within three hundred feet of the suspected device.”
At last: Any bus or train riding wanna-be who doesn't like your haircut can use an app to denounce you, Mme. Defarge-style. And the denunciation will be taken seriously enough by the drones at the other end to cause you trouble. O brave new techno world.
