I used to be of a mindset similar to yours. Even had a close friend, when I was living in L.A., a gainfully employed screenwriter, who introduced me to the concept of "there are only ten stories."
But then one day, I had a realization that telling the same story over and over is a big part of what we humans do. And I'd argue that this aspect of us promoted our chances at survival.
I know you like to be grumpy, but seriously: it's a big world out there, and we are fortunate to live in a time where we have the Internet, which will let us have a look at almost all of it.
