UCB DPO MFI

Regular corresp. Brendan Keefe buys into the paranoia in the item below:
How do you know they don't purposefully leave such glitches, solely to make you think they don't know everything?
which reminded us of this,
in which, we guess, the guys & gals at LA Observed just aren't interested. We therefore extract our e-mail to them & present it here:
I was very amused by the new-ish Google Maps beta where I found "United Ca Bank Data Processing Ops".

How many ways is this wrong?

UCB became First Interstate Bank in 1981.

FIB moved DPO (As it was called; I know all this because I worked in the bldg. from '78-'82, & for UCB/FIB from '78-'95.) & all other backroom operations to 1200 W. 7th in 1984. I don't know if the Vermont bldg. has ever been used again, there's no signage on it, but the parking structure has been leased by various entities over the yrs. Nonetheless, it's been 30 yrs. since it was a bank data center, no matter the name.

That's just the history part. The map itself has the bldg. in the 200 blk. of South Vermont. Nope. It's the blue brick bldg. at Oakwood, next to the CHP. 311 North Vermont.

And while there is a heliport on the roof, Google has an airport symbol next to it.
Nice job all around. Hope this was amusing enough to use.
L.A. Observed can just kiss my pasty white keister if they don't find this amusing & won't add my bit to their collection of Google Map crap, but thanks to Mr. Keefe for reminding us so we could still get some use from it. And thanks to Google for not doing any evil. Oh wait, if your corporate motto says "don't" that could only be because you do, to extremes. It's called "projection." Motherfucking idiots.
