What's left of today is the 60th anniversary of the televised incarnation of Dragnet, per
this reliable source. Older than both us & the proverbial hills.

"Dragnet" was the only TV show my dad watched. He called it "Blood and Thunder." He was a taciturn guy, like Sgt. Friday; maybe that's why he liked it. Also, we didn't have a TV and we had to go to my grandmother's, upstairs, to watch anything. He wasn't that fond of his mother-in-law, which may have been another reason he didn't watch much else.
I remember when "Law and Order" (Original Crispy Recipe*) first came on, I thought, "Wow, they've recreated 'Dragnet.'"

Facts Only Editor:
Always thought of L&O as more of a reverse Perry Mason. 'Cept w/ more deadpan, admittedly.
