A gaggle of LAPD motorcycle officers (& their motorcycles) in front of the local 7-11 this a. m. on our way to the library. Haven't observed a non-mobile police bike (pig hog?) in some time, & noticed that most of them now carry a pistol-grip shotgun over the saddlebags. Yikes! Wonder how easy it'd be to grab one while Ossifer Oinker is in the 7-11 or the doughnut shoppe. One wouldn't think the shotguns would be locked down, 'cause they''d want to be able to get at them quickly, but one never knows.

I think all long gun racks in cars or on motorcycles are locked down. Otherwise, as you say, somebody could grab a nice Ithaca model 37 (the LAPD still uses it.... they've been using it longer than any other weapon they have, like since the 50s as far as I know). The Ithaca model 37 is designated such because it was developed in 1937, that's how old it is....

These were all black (scary!!) stockless items. Didn't look very 1937ish, but who knows, a few cosmetic updates may have been made.
And they would be black, cuz the model the LAPD uses is Parkerized for durability of the finish. And yeah, you can put a pistol-grip stock on an Ithaca 37 quite easily. But don't. If I understand Kalifornia's incredibly complex and convoluted gun laws correctly, pistol-grip shotguns are illegal for civilians to own. Yeah, those motherfuckers look scary.
