[SCAQMD]The South Coast Air Quality Management District issued a windblown dust advisory Sunday in the Coachella Valley.The advisory was effective from 5 p.m. Sunday to 8 a.m. on Tuesday due to gusty winds of up to over 50 mph expected in the areas of Desert Hot Springs, Cathedral City, Palm Springs, Indio, Mecca, Coachella and La Quinta.
Blowing dust due to the gusty winds was predicted to cause the air quality index to reach hazardous levels.
The South Coast AQMD advised the public to limit exposure by remaining indoors with windows and doors closed or seeking alternate shelter as well as avoiding vigorous outdoor physical activity.
