REASON FOR STUDY: As given by the ordering provider "Left wrist pain"
FINDINGS: There is severe osteoarthritis at the base of the thumb about the first carpometacarpal articulation. There is mild widening of the scapholunate interval consistent with a chronic injury. There is mild spurring about the radial styloid with mild soft tissue swelling. There are no erosions or chondrocalcinosis.
IMPRESSION:
Probable de Quervain tenosynovitis.
Old scapholunate ligament injury.
Severe osteoarthritis at the base of the thumb.
Ouch. The torture never stops. At least there are no erosions or chondrocalcinosis.
- Age. People between the ages of 30 and 50 have a higher risk of developing de Quervain tenosynovitis than do people in other age groups, including children.
- Sex. The condition is more common in women.
- Being pregnant. The condition may be associated with pregnancy.
- Baby care. Lifting a child repeatedly involves using the thumbs as leverage and may be associated with the condition.
- Jobs or hobbies that involve repetitive hand and wrist motions. These may contribute to de Quervain tenosynovitis.
Whatever. Just prescribe me some heroin.
