As Time Goes By: Oscar Counter Programming & Nostalgia Wallow

Ronald Reagan yakking. Bob's Frolic Room, left of the grandstand, has been a Hollywood Blvd. institution since 1934.Raymond Burr on the call. Note Melody Lane at the northwest corner of (world-famous) Hywd. & Vine, under the Oldsmobile sign. By the 1955 Oscars it was Hody's of Hollywood. It's been many different venues since the 1920s, & I'm guessing it isn't the same dump it was last time I was in there, which was probably in the '90s. The eternal Bob's at (0:45). 1966 continues here; playback disabled. Watching these may take longer than watching tonight's excess of self-congratulation.

PROTIP: About fifty yrs. ago, in the days of a mere eight to ten (for fortunate urbanites) over-the-air telebision channels, I came to the realization that Oscar Night is an excellent opportunity for spring cleaning.
