Submarine Harder (SS-257) sinks Japanese merchant cargo ship Kachiyama Maru, 33°25'N, 135°38'E.
Submarine Scamp (SS-277) sinks Japanese army cargo ship Kansai Maru, 00°25'N, 146°21'E.
Note well that the Scamp sank the same ship the previous day, except at 00°41'N, 146°28'E. "Scamp" indeed.
And if it isn't mentioned elsewhere, a mere ten yrs. from this date (1953) this reporter was hatched from an egg at a medical facility in San Francisco.
