ReplyDeleteOnce, years ago, while we were at the family cabin in Maine (two rooms, no electricity or plumbing, gas fridge), we almost mutinied against my uncle, who bought a whole lot of chicken necks at ten cents a pound. The mutiny was forestalled only by an old family friend, Italian born, who saved the day with his incredible risotto.
Now, if you want GOOD cheap eats, it's the hearts or gizzards you have to buy. Few foods beat spice-dusted chicken hearts grilled on skewers.
