1968: The Year Everything Turned to Shit
Fifty yrs. ago today, sometime after midnight, Robert F. Kennedy, Senator from New York & Democratic Party presidential candidate, was plugged in the head just a few blocks south of where this reporter sits typing. Not being terribly invested in electoral politics then or now, this reporter didn't really give a shit, let alone believe it would make a dime's worth of difference which fuck was elected. And as usual, I was right. Nixon's the one!In the intervening 50 yrs. the Ambassador Hotel, in the kitchen of whose Embassy Ballroom the assassination was committed, was torn down & replaced by the Robert F. Kennedy Community Schools. (Home of the Bobcats!) I took my vote-by-mail ballot to a polling place at a school today. Wonder if there was voting at the R.F.K. Schools.
History has it over-covered, from the General Interest, Crime & Vietnam War perspectives.
Other notable morbidity on this date: The good are murdered young, the senile & demented survive assassination attempts & continue their bullshit.
Didn't look like much of a struggle from here. Seemed as if Reagan had given up a long time ago, probably about the time he started calling his bitch wife Nancy "Mommie".On this day in 2004, Ronald Wilson Reagan, the 40th president of the United States, died after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s disease. Reagan [...] was also a well-known actor and served as governor of California.
