Today In Geography: CalExit

It may have been mentioned in this space that some of us in California have about had it w/ wrong-side-of-the-Rockies fly-over hicks, Eastern elitists, unreconstructed Confederates, Massholes & other such Americans. We weren't kidding either, & now other Californians are finally wising up:
Melia Robinson / Business Insider:
People in California are calling for a ‘Calexit’ from the US in the wake of Trump's win  —  “Calexit” is swiftly taking over social media.  —  After Donald Trump won the race to the White House, people across California took to social media Tuesday night to call for “Calexit,” recalling Brexit in its push to leave the union.
Of course the whole thing is absurd: It won't work w/ Calif. alone; our family members, friends & neighbo(u)rs from the great states of Oregon, Washington & Hawai'i, the estado of Baja California & the province of British Columbia have to join us in building a wall between our Coast & Ocean & those sad places where the jet stream blows our trash & debris.

  1. Water? Coastal equivalent of FEMA? Northern & Southern California are culturally different--do they get to be two zones/states?. Standing army/navy/air force or volunteer force? Sports team divisions? Money?

On the other hand, the upper midwest seems determined to poison their freshwater aquifers, so.

    Aw-reet, Oregon in the nation!!

Good to see someone working on the practical considerations too. Calif. alone, we are told, is the world's sixth largest economy. Desalinization? Pacific Coast League? Water wars?
