Beginning Of The End?

One hears this stuff a lot recently.

Stephen Hawking warns artificial intelligence could end mankind

Personally, I question our ability to create something that is self-aware, motivated to do something/anything & either hell-bent on world domination/human extinction or didn't give a damn that whatever it was doing would have bad results for humanoids.

Not that it would be a great loss.

Joke Dep't.: Who is this "Al" guy everyone's so worried about if he "develops"?

  1. Oh, fer fucks sake. If we build it without an 'off' switch, I'm pretty sure we deserve what we get...

  2. Binary processors (what is typically called a computer) will never, in my opinion, become 'intelligent' (become self aware, for lack of a better definition).

There is a faint possibility that the IBM chip that mimics the human brain might become self aware but I don't think we need to worry about AI (Al?) until we start growing computers.
I'm planning to be dead before then.
