More Dreadful Grate
From the same photo session as earlier this date, the same tune. But mos. later, on 29 November 1966. Crypts cheerfully kept clean (w/ expectorant & urine, natch) unless your eternal resting place is transformed into subterranean parking for another ticky-tacky box filled w/ apparently-overpaid young people overpaying for newly constructed pseudo-post modernism.

ReplyDeleteFirst thought was the Canned Heat version.
I'm not sure how amusing you find it, but I find it fascinating that a punk rocker like you managed to attract hippies* like Thunder and me (and even mikey to an extent).
ReplyDeleteOh well.
*Don't call us hippies. We're heads

ReplyDeleteI was a teeny-bopper/hippie too; just continued evolving a little longer than some people.
First (of two) Dead gigs I've attended: The Grateful Dead perform at Golden Gardens Park in Seattle on July 16, 1967. (It was free.) Stood next to Captain Trips while he was leaning against the flatbed truck. He was sporting exceptionally cool (for the time) Kelly green corduroy pants w/ red & yellow paisleys all over 'em.
And I was a-dancin' so hard my "love beads" broke their cheap nylon string. A 13.5-yr. old trying entirely too hard, in other words. Life is sooooooo much better when one doesn't try too hard. (Or at all.)

ReplyDeleteTruly.
The most intense guitar experience of my life was leaning on Garcia's monitor at The Stone in S.F.
The second most intense guitar experience of my life was leaning on Curt Kurkwood's amp at the No-Riders Club* on Toxic Alley in Tempe. That was a good show.
*Not a club at all, just a shack down an industrial alley where the show was.
