Then & Before Then: Whatta Dump

How things were on "The Boulevard" when your host here blew into town like a tumbleweed on fire, eventually settling/burning out two blks. south & a few west of the proverbial blvd., near "Rock-n-Roll" Ralphs.
Exact length musical accompaniment, if you can synch the two. (Start the pictures first.)

  1. I got it. Had to stop the pictures for a bit, and then restart when the video caught up.

  2. Ah-HA. I previously deduced there had been a House of Pies on that corner, based on the "Pi" symbol mosaic still visible on the doorstep (although it's now a check cashing joint) -- and here is incontrovertible proof.

Surprising to see the stripper shoe emporium was once a See's Candies. More surprising still to see the that Ritz was still the News-Vu, and not yet the Pussycat.

  3. Seems like "For Lease" is more popular in the lower frame.

Oh, and, still waiting for the Beefheart to play.

I miss the biker bar that was next to the Swenson's, Arthur Leon's Tourist Trap. There'd be 20, 30 scooters parked in front.

Many of those are the same trees, just 30 yrs. later, y'know.

    Sounds like ISP trouble.
