Can't remember who said it, but Mitch Mitchell's stickwork was once described as sounding like Elvin Jones'. As such, Mitch & his sticks were a vital part of the Jimi Hendrix Experience, now completely over w/ Mr. Mitchell's death today at 61, in Portland, Oregon.
Seriously, imagine the Experience w/ a totally square, 2/4 kind of a cat drumming. Uh-uh.
