Birthday Boy

75 yrs. ago today, Lou Reed was evicted from the comfort of his mother's womb. This seems like the V.U. tune most relevant to what's happening now.
Where's my fucking spike?

  1. It's been a hard one for me to listen to over these past few years since he died. When a guy who sang about heroin and did heroin dies from liver-related illness, the old tunes take on new meaning, especially where he sings, "Heroin will be the death of me."

He's the first one of my faves who has died (Syd Barrett and Don Van Vliet having been retired for so long by the time of their deaths).

Oh, and as far as what is going on now... Reed mentions both Trump and Giuliani on his 1989 album, "New York".

  2. Musical Morbidity Editor:
See also Rory Gallagher for musicians born 2 March whose deaths were liver-related.

Been watching a lot of Law & Order (all series) recently; Trump gets a few mentions there as well.
