Yes, Yes, 1000x YES!!!

"Bent over, doubled up: I did the vom in a blind-o's cup."
In 2012, Steve Albini, musician, engineer and founder of the blog “Mario Batali Voice,” spoke with Bon Appétit about his hatred of food fetishization: “I hate [the word] foodie because it’s cute, like pretty much all diminutives associated with eating*. ‘Veggies,’ ‘sammies,’ ‘parm.’ I eat food and I cook it. It’s for eating, preferably with friends, and I don’t make a fetish out of it.”

In an interview with Flavorwire’s Jillian Mapes published online on Tuesday, he echoed that thought.

“It distinguishes the foodie as special because he eats well, and that’s a shitty metric,” Albini told Mapes. “Rich people eat better than poor people. People of leisure eat better than working people. People with the luxury of choice eat better than people who subsist. People who don’t have health or ethical concerns about food can eat better than people with disease or conscience… The cute aspect being tied by association with that waste and class makes it particularly repellent.”

“Smoothies, what the fuck,” he said. “Just eat. Unless your jaw is wired shut, just eat. Smoothies, fuck.”
No idea what "preferably with friends" means; otherwise 100% in agreement!

*Also, fucking "foodies" have trouble w/ multisyllabic words, because they are childish idiots. Sickening.

Umm, smoothies because they're cold, sweet and delicious? Sorry dood, but I'm not gonna pass over good stuff because it represents a part of the culture that is narcissistic and self-involved.
