A Sad Statement About The Media

Proven right again. 'Twas but two wks. ago we were on about someone's sudden gun fixation.
We figure Tucker Carlson's TheDC is running gun reviews (as well as Top Ten Gun lists, misty-eyed tributes to retro/vintage weapons & other manly penis-related stuff) because they're desperate for money & being paid for "advertorials,"* or they're just desperate for attention & hoping that a leftist gun-hater will take the bait &, in a fit of pissed-off liberal rage, complain that TheDC dared to piss them off.

Or, as they started promptly 15 November 2011, it's just Commercial Xmas fun. Who doesn't want a gun or three under the tree? We know we sure as hell do. (Our Fifth Amendment at Work: The exact reasons we'd like a weapon or five have gone wisely unmentioned, on advice of a legal consultant.)
Judging from the start date of 15 November we noted, they were just keeping it stealthy for a mo. before today's roll-out.
The section will include everything from the latest news about armed citizens defending themselves and their property, to coverage of Second Amendment policies and politics, to reviews of the latest guns and gear.

“The millions of Americans who own and are interested in guns are currently without the sort of daily news coverage that is allotted to most other American interests,” said Neil Patel, publisher and CEO of The Daily Caller. “Most of the media would never consider publishing a guns and gear section because they are hopelessly out of touch with American values and interests. This is a sad statement about the media. It’s great news for The Daily Caller,” Patel continued. “As the booming audience for our political coverage has proven, millions of Americans are hungry for new sources of news. We are confident that our Guns and Gear section will receive a similar welcome.”

The section will be comprised of eight subsections; Ammo & Gear Reviews, Black Rifles & Tactical Guns, Concealed Carry & Home Defense, Gun Laws & Legislation, Gun Links, Handguns, Military, and Sporting Arms. Mike Piccione will serve as the editor for the Guns & Gear section.

“There are 80 million gun owners in the United States, concealed carry is commonplace and legal in one form or other in 49 States and it is our intent to provide a knowledge bank and be a resource for gun owners,” said Piccione.

Asked for comment on the Daily Caller’s latest hire, DC editor-in-chief Tucker Carlson said ”Mike Piccione knows more about firearms and self-defense than anyone in journalism. We’re grateful to have him editing this new section.”
(Why the wait? A month's probation for gun desk guy Piccione before officially noticing him?)

And now, the rest of the story:
